'The Act' preview: The top 3 takeaways from Hulu's trailer of Joey King and Patricia Arquette's new show

Joey King and Patricia Arquette play the role of Gypsy Blanchard and DeeDee Blanchard respectively in their upcoming show based on true events.

'The Act' starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King is a show about a real-life story of a mother, who suffers from Munchausen by Proxy syndrome and whose abusive relationship with her daughter results in a crime.  Patricia plays the role of DeeDee Blanchard while Joey King steps into the shoes of Gypsy in a show that reimagines the real-life incident. 'The Act' is written by Michelle Dean, who reported an in-depth story about the incident for Buzzfeed in 2016 along with Nick Antosca. Here are three important takeaways from the trailer of the show which is also inspired partly by the 2017 documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest.
