The 1975 and YouTuber KSI battle it out for No. 1 album on UK charts
The 1975 are leading the UK charts on the official chart update with their new studio album 'Notes on a Conditional Form', which may see them at number one for the fourth consecutive time. The band's fourth full-length album is a generous 22-track LP that released on May 22 and it's leading on CD and vinyl sales. However, British rapper and YouTuber KSI is closely behind with his debut album 'Dissimulation'.
The 1975 are on a perfect 3-0 winning streak with their previous albums, 'The 1975' (2013), 'I Like It When You Sleep…' (2016) and 'A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships' (2018), which also landed at number one. KSI's 'Dismmulation', which started at number two on the midweek chart, is leading on streams and downloads. So far, KSI has had four Top 40 singles, including two Top 10s, from his debut LP.
Also racing for a position on the Top 5 is rapper Agust D (commonly known as Suga from South Korean Kpop boyband BTS). His second mixtape, 'D-2', is currently making a debut at number three. US hip-hop artist Gunna is also the way to his first top 10 entry. His sophomore album 'Wunna' stands at number six. Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess is poised for a Top 10 debut with 'I Love The New Sky' at number nine on the midweek chart. Badly Drawn Boy is also set for a debut on the Official UK Albums Chart with 'Banana Skin Shoes', his first album in a decade and potentially sixth Top 20 collection, entering at 14 on the chart.
Battling it out for the singles chart title are Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande with their collab 'Rain on Me', which was number one this week on the Official UK Singles Chart Update. On May 24, Billboard reported that the track is leading the UK singles chart. The song ruled the Official Chart First Look Top 20 with a lead of 7,000 chart sales over its nearest rival, rapper DaBaby’s 'Rockstar' featuring Roddy Ricch. DaBaby's 'Rockstar' got a number two spot and Powfu's 'Deathbed' was at three. The Official UK Singles and Albums charts are published late Friday local time.
