Release date

Plot
The game show, hosted by Jameela Jamil, features two teams trying to rank an embarrassing situation or event on a misery index that has been developed by a team of therapists. If you guess the rank of the event on a scale of 1 to 100, then you get to win some prize money. These teams are made up of three members, of which two are members of the famous comedy troupe 'The Tenderloins' and the other member is a non-celebrity contestant. TBS describes the show as, "Inspired by the card game 'Sh*t Happens', 'The Misery Index' is the only game show where contestants can make a fortune out of other people’s mis-fortune." The miserable incidents range from getting stuck overnight in an elevator to walking in on your grandparents having sex.
Cast
Jameela Jamil will be hosting the game show. In an interview, Jameel explained the show, "As someone whose life is just a series of mortifying incidents strung together, it's going to be brilliant to take a break from my own mishaps, and feast in the disasters of others. I cannot wait for the misery to commence. This show is brilliantly ridiculous."
Joining Jameela on the show is the comedy troupe 'The Tenderloins'. The comedy troupe comprises of Joseph Gatto, James Murray, Brian Quinn, and Salvatore Vulcano. They star in the popular television series 'Impractical Jokers'.
Creators
'The Misery Index' was developed by comedy writer Andy Breckman, along with Ben and Dan Newmark of Grandma's House Entertainment. The series is executive produced by Breckman, the Newmarks, Howard Klein of 3 Arts Entertainment and Vin Rubino. Breckman created and wrote the TV shows 'Monk' and 'The Good Cop', prior to creating the card game 'Sh*t Happens', the inspiration behind 'The Misery Index'.
