Legion references are always more than welcome, especially if it's accompanied by bombastic and adrenaline-pulsing music. In the latest episode of 'Supergirl', our beloved Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) returned from his future travels with the Legion. Not just that, he's married to a member of the Legion — Lightning Lass — and has started a family with her.

This surprising revelation is blurted out by a panic-stricken Winn, as he tried to stop Toyman from wreaking havoc. "If he hurts someone, my life is over," he yelled. "Everything! I will lose everything. My wife, my daughter... That's my wife, Ayla. Mary is going to be two in April."

Every comic book fan's antennae would have been upon hearing the name, Ayla, as she is a well-known Legionnaire from the comics. She is the twin sister of Garth Ranzz aka Lightning Lad (Obviously). Keeping to the superhero tradition of receiving powers in strange ways, she received her powers on the planet, Korbal, where Lightning Beasts instilled in her along with her siblings, electricity-based powers. Her other sibling was Mekt, who became Lightning Lord. She joined the Legion after Garth was killed by Zaryan the Conqueror. She is quite powerful, and has the power of electrokinesis and energy absorption.

In the comics, there were many hints about Lightning Lass's relationship with Shrinking Violet. Considering the cultural situation was not as progressive as it was today, the homosexuality was mostly suggested in innuendos and subtext. However, despite their close bonding and affection it never really went beyond a point.

Apparently, Winn wished to name his daughter Kara, which even Ayla wanted. Finally, he decided to name his daughter after his mother, Mary.

Will we get to see Ayla in the three episodes of this story arc? Hopefully.

'Supergirl' airs on The CW on Sundays at 9 pm.
