'Rick and Morty' Season 9 first look photos revelead and here's when you can watch the sc-fi comedy series
'Rick and Morty' is once again all set to return with the usual quirky shenanigans and counterintuitive plot twists that have so endeared the animated show to audiences. Adult Swim recently released the first set of exclusive first-look photos from the upcoming Season 9 of 'Rick and Morty', which will premiere on Sunday, May 24 at 11 p.m. ET.
The long-running sci-fi comedy show will premiere in more than 42 languages across 170 countries. The new episodes will be available for purchase from digital retailers a day after their initial broadcast on Adult Swim. In the United States, the upcoming season will be available for streaming beginning August 31.
The official synopsis for the upcoming season reads, "Rick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers. No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we’ll have neglected our families for nothing."
In another recently released statement, Michael Ouweleen, the president of Adult Swim, noted, "I know it’s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true, It’s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season—just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see great high‑concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true."
'Rick and Morty' follows the cynical and mad scientist Rick Sanchez, who is often accompanied by his reserved grandson Morty Smith. The duo often struggles to balance their household lives with their journeys across multiverse dimensions aboard the homemade flying saucer Rick built, the Space Cruiser.
Noted for their remarkable wit and memorable back-and-forth, both Rick and Morty are stalwarts in the use of caustic wit. The show stars Harry Belden, Sarah Chalke, Ian Cardoni, Spencer Grammer, and Chris Parnell. The show is executive-produced by Scott Marder and Dan Harmon. The former also serves as the showrunner.
'Rick and Morty' debuted back in 2013 and instantly became a raging success. In the early years, fans of the show were often perturbed by the lengthy breaks between seasons. This scenario improved in 2021, with new seasons arriving more quickly.
Rick, Morty, Beth, Jerry, and Summer soon branched out into further multiversal shenanigans, and the show hasn't slowed down since then. The show has won two Emmy Awards for outstanding animated program and continues to ride the wave of success.
