Super Bowl LIV: Who was better between Shakira and Jennifer Lopez? Fans deliver their Halftime Show verdict

Shakira and JLo both came together and left viewers short of breath. And if the feminine energy was any less, Lopez's 11-year-old daughter, Emme, jumped on the bandwagon too!

A marvel to behold, "Queens of Pop" Shakira and Jennifer Lopez turned the biggest American sports event into a grand affair.

The power of two incredible women hypnotized onlookers at the Halftime Show of the Super Bowl LIV as they rocked the stage with their glittery costumes and powerful dancing.

In a dazzling red outfit, Shakira opened the full house at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami with "Hola, Miami!". She then broke into a medley of songs on her 43rd birthday with impressive guitar tunes from 'Empire'.

JLo took over with a flirtatious waltz and surprised fans with a phenomenal nod to her cultural roots by wrapping herself in dual Puerto Rican and American flags. Pure magic, it was!

Bad Bunny and J Balvin popped onto the stage to add some heat. Turning the stage show into a sensation, Shakira and JLo both came together. And if the feminine energy was any less, Lopez's 11-year-old daughter, Emme, jumped on the bandwagon with a children's choir to sing 'Let's Get Loud' with her mom.

Going back to the roots

Cultural representation was one of the biggest highlights of the night. Lopez and Shakira paid tribute to their rich Latina culture and the city of Miami.

During the performance, JLo made hearts pound as she sang a verse from Bruce Springsteen's iconic 'Born in the USA' while wearing a double-sided cape of the American flag that turned into a Puerto Rican flag.

The moment made Puerto Rican natives emotional and they couldn't thank the singer enough for reminding Donald Trump that the Caribbean island is very much a part of the USA and their people need to be stopped being treated like "second-class citizens".

What do fans say?

No sooner did the ladies step on stage, fans couldn't stop talking about their performances and hailed it as "one of the best Super Bowl Halftime Show" in years.

"The Shakira/J-Lo #PepsiHalftime show was great. One of the best the #SuperBowl has had in years. I liked the Shakira part better and she could've done an entire halftime show herself. Adding JLo just made it even better," one tweet read.

Another said, "No one has ever had a hotter, bigger, or better performance than these divas. @shakira." while one viewer commented, "#HalftimeShow with @JLo and @shakira has got to be one of the best I’ve watched...And to see #JLo on a pole made it even better!"

One fan said, "Have to say, tho, I never noticed how stiff Jennifer Lopez is as a dancer, or perhaps this was an exception? I'll give Shakira's performance and set an A+ - she nailed it! Not sure how I'd grade JLo's performance, but it was better than expected. Overall a great show!"

Verdict

With two powerhouses of talents, it seems rather arduous to decide who was better.

"#HalftimeShow was epic. Not tolerating claims that one performed better than the other! JLO and Shakira are both legendary #JLO brought her unique fast-paced energy dancing, & #Shakira brought her signature hip-shaking - both A+ game," one fan posted.

Many others favored Shakira over JLO. "@shakira better choreography @jlo actually sang live more It was entertaining but not extraordinarily fabulous. Sorry girls," one tweet read and another said, "Shakira and JLo’s half time performance was better than Beyonce and gaga’s one #SuperBowl!"

But, in all fairness, it was Lopez who takes the crown for bringing a fabulous performance on stage. If Shakira is the better dancer, JLo is the better performer and it was truly the amalgamation of the two czarinas that made the night sparkle!

Just like one fan said: "It's not who did better. Can we just give both @JLo and @shakira the credit for doing such a show!!!"
