LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Minka Kelly appeared on the latest episode of ‘The View’ to promote her book titled ‘Tell Me Everything: A Memoir’. The co-hosts on the talk show had a few questions and comments about the book, but if there’s one person who took the lead, it has to be Sunny Hostin. ‘The View’ has most certainly put Hostin under the limelight and not always in the most positive way possible, but who is to really blame for that?
Kelly opened up about some tough times in the latest episode of 'The View', especially about the contents of her book, and Hostin did not make the conversation any easier. Hostin asked Kelly about the book and said, “There were clearly good days you had with your mom, you write about those, but also days when she chose drugs over you. Why is this the right time to open up about…open up like this about your life?” If you have watched this segment, whether or not you’re a fan of Kelly, you will appreciate her candor and how she handled the seemingly controversial statement with grace. Kelly first addresses the part where Hostin blatantly states that Kelly’s mother chose drugs over her, and frankly, good for Kelly!
There is no doubt that Hostin will receive some heat for the statements she made, considering the fact that Kelly’s mother has died, after which she chose to open up about certain events in her memoir. Hostin patiently listened to Kelly as the latter answered her questions, and one can only wonder whether Hostin thought about her previous statement and wished that the writers would come back from the strike.

‘The View’ has garnered a huge fan following over the years, but recently, that seems to be dwindling away, and the co-hosts have played a huge part in that, especially Hostin. The viewers took to the comment section on ‘The View’s Facebook page, where this entire conversation was summarized in a 3-minute clip.
One fan wrote, “What it surprises you SONNY TALKS OUT THE SIDE OF HER MOUTH. MORE BS THAT SHE CAN'T RELATE TO PEOPLE! SONNY DON'T ASSUME YOU KNOW PEOPLE UNTIL YOUVE BEEN DOWN THAT SAME ROAD. MAKES YOU LOOK IGNORANT AND SOMETIMES YOU SHOULD LISTEN MORE AND TALK LESS.”
This segment clearly struck a nerve with some viewers as another commented on the same post, “Omg!!!! Sunny is so condescending. Cannot stand her! So happy this woman put her in her place!!!” Another commented, “Agree Sunny is condescending and her phrasing of her question was horrible.”
Some felt that Hostin should have approached that question in different ways as one viewer commented, “I wonder if Sonny realized that she put this young lady's mother down on national TV.” Some viewers have also dug up their past experiences of watching Hostin on their screens as one viewer wrote, "This woman ( Sunny), is so stupid. Every time I watch the show she talks about racism against blacks. She never mentions the atrocities committed against Latinos. I guess Puerto Ricans don't see themselves Hispanic.”
