'She's got a big ego': 'The View' fans slam Sunny Hostin's antics as she tries to gain sympathy
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: When it comes to talk shows, if there’s one person who knows how to make her mark, it has to be Sunny Hostin. The host has been under the scrutiny of ‘The View’s fans for far too long, and the saga continues because she simply can’t help herself. From fart jokes to racist comments to interrupting her co-hosts, there’s no stopping her, really.
There comes a time in any celebrity’s life, no matter how big or small, that the internet hatred finally gets to them, but has the unabashed TV host reached that stage after all this time? With her new book releasing on May 2, 2023, Hostin should buckle up and get some of those sympathy points. Because while she might be able to stand the hate, we highly doubt she will tolerate a dent in her bank account!

‘I get emails about how horrible I am’
There’s no stopping the internet and invested fans who often take over social media to express their disbelief through unpleasant comments. While we don’t condone hate, Hostin does tend to dig her grave more often than not, and now she has to lay in it. She seems like someone who has a thick skin on most days but looks like the hate is finally catching up to her.
On Friday, the panel on ‘The View’ discussed celebrity culture as one of their highlights, and Hostin immediately took a stand, explaining that the viewers think they know everything about celebrities, even talk shows hosts like her, and showcases a smidge of emotion when she says, "People think they know everything about us," and ultimately confessing that she has garnered a lot of haters on the internet and all over the country.
Playing the victim card is frankly getting a little old for celebrities but if one must do so to protect their book sales, Hostin might as well. "Yeah, I get emails on my website about how horrible I am,” Hostin claims, but her attempt to gain sympathy backfires.
‘Tell Sunny to have some respect’
Now is the time Sunny needs to get her act together if she wants to be loved by the internet, but instead, things seem to be going downhill for her. Although she has received a fair bit of complaints over the last few months, right now, the fans are angry about Hostin being disrespectful and talking over her co-stars.
One fan tweeted; “My IQ dropped 20 points just watching this.” The others who couldn’t really find a particular point to hate, went on to attack Hostin’s grammar as one fan tweeted, “Correct English is - come chat with Joy and me!” Some people really doubled down on the hate as one person tweeted, “Just like a good Catholic gurl. How does one go to church and write such …….. must not have any daughters.”

Of course, Twitter isn’t the only outlet available to fans to let out their frustrations about Hostin, as some viewers took to Reddit’s thread of ‘The View.’ One fan commented on a Reddit discourse about Sunny talking over her co-stars, “I don't think Sunny dislike Alyssa, I think she genuinely like her as a person, but the thing about Sunny is she got a big ego and wants to be the "know-it-all" lawyer. That's why you sometime see Whoopi kept interrupting Sunny because she's trying get her back down to Earth.”
Fans don’t just have a problem with Sunny’s words, but also her expressions, as one viewer wrote, “I am watching the View even as I type. Sunny is going all out Bad Girl today. If she makes that nasty face once more, I may have to post on Reddit! Laughing.” If you aren't convinced about your thoughts on Hostin yet, a fan on Reddit wrote, "Sunny makes me so angry, she bullies Alissa every chance she can. She is narcissistic. She is the type of person that makes you feel like “you” are not good enough. Her vibe is exhausting."
Could Hostin's latest reputation ruin her book sale?
The timing couldn't be worse for Hostin as she struggles to gain love from the internet, aka the people who will eventually buy her book, 'Summer on Sag Harbor'. As of now, Hostin has garnered more haters than fans, and by the looks of it, this might just impact the sales of her latest book. Can people separate the art from the artist? It will be interesting to see how 'Summer on Sag Harbor' does on bookshelves, will it be a best-seller, or will it gather dust?
