Gaten Matarazzo's Dustin Henderson was one of the characters who made it out alive in 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Volume 2. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about his latest and good friend, Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn), who after giving the best metal concert and the ultimate tribute to Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' dies after an intense attack by the Demo-bats in the Upside Down.

Also surviving the Vecna threat were all the major characters — Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Steve (Joe Keery), and Nancy (Natalia Dyer). Sadie Sink's Max is in a coma following her near-death experience with the evil wizard, while Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is back in action with her powers restored. But with the fifth and final season promising to be a humdinger, expect at least one of the main trio to die, and Dustin comes off as one of the candidates speculated to kick the bucket.

Why is it possible for Dustin to die in 'Stranger Things' Season 5?

The death of Eddie Munson leaves Dustin helpless and guilty. After the duo plays their part in helping send Vecna packing, only one of them makes the finish line. Eddie saves the group by buying them more time and leads the bats away from Steve, Nancy, and Robin (Maya Hawke), but dies when he attempts to take them on. With Vecna preying on the trauma of his victims, there's a strong chance that he may use Dustin's helplessness to get to his friend on time and claim the teen's life. There may have been closure after he talks to Eddie's uncle in the aftermath of the battle, but the guilt is still visible.

It does make sense of Dustin is one of the characters who go out swinging. The show has always killed newer characters who strike a connection with the audience but has consciously stayed away from killing off the main heroes. What better way to end with a bang than by getting Dustin to bite the dust. Unless there's a Suzie's 'Never Ending Story' that might bail him out.

'Stranger Things' Season 4 is available for streaming on Netflix.
