'Stranger Things' Season 5: Will Nancy choose Jonathan or Steve? Natalia Dyer gives clear answer
‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 will be known for its super-sized episodes and epic storytelling. The latest edition felt like the Duffer brothers wanted to tell viewers how this universe needed a lot more than a group of friends fighting evil and they surely came forward with a season that was intriguing in all aspects. One of the storylines that managed to captivate everyone’s imagination highlighted the closeness of Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Steve (Joe Keery).
Nancy and Steve were a couple in the first two seasons of the show. However, Steve broke up with her when Nancy made it obvious that she doesn’t love him. Since then, Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) and Nancy Wheeler are together and had a cute relationship. But Season 4 changed everything and brought the ex-couple closer than ever. In the latest edition, Nancy, Steve, Robin (Maya Hawke), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Max (Sadie Sink), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Eddie (Joseph Quinn), and Erica (Priah Ferguson) stitched a plan to defeat Vecna. During the plan, they went to the Upside Down and it was Steve who saved Nancy on multiple occasions. These moments made everyone realize how much they care for each other and this might be bad news for Jonathan.

Discussing the love triangle, actress Natalia Dyer gave her opinion on the situation and who she might choose when the right time comes. In a recent interview with Variety, the actress noted that her character is in dire need of self-discovery and hopes that it would be Nancy to choose between the two.
“It’s really tough. I don’t know. It feels like she’s been in a relationship for a while so maybe she needs some self-discovery time. It’s a bit complicated. Whatever happens, I would hope that she does it with integrity. I just think she’s stronger now. I think she’s more sure of herself. So whatever she decides to do, she’ll do it for the right reasons,” Dyer told Variety.
The ‘Yes, God, Yes’ star also opened up about how Season 4 deals with Steve and Nancy’s friendship by giving them ample space. Although the latest edition brought them closer, Dyer doesn’t care about what “label” anyone puts on their arc because she doesn’t have any idea where the story is going to go for them.
Dyer said, “What this season touches on is the fact that these two people do care about each other and that hasn’t gone away. What that is and what label you want to put on that, I don’t know. Truly, I have no idea where it’s gonna go but I do like that they at least still care about each other.”
Her comments make us believe that she’s still in doubt about who she wants to spend her life with. Both, Nancy and Jonathan, are hiding things from each other and that might turn out to be the reason for their debacle. With Season 5 set to conclude everyone’s story, it will be interesting to see Nancy’s decision about her love life and how it reflects her character growth.
No release date has been announced for Season 5, but David Harbour believes that they might start shooting the final season by next year.
