James Corden, host of 'The Late Late Show with James Corden' says that he has "huge hope" for America, a "fairly young country" on the Stephen Colbert Show. On the June 22 episode of 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert', Corden and Colbert joked about having to host their shows indoors and without a live audience during the pandemic. With Corden hosting from his garage and Colbert hosting from his "study", the interview had a lighter tone which was great considering America seems to be going through a bad time right now.

After Corden revealed that he's blocking the humming sound of his fridge freezer in his garage with multiple blankets, Colbert gave Corden "million-dollar ideas" on hosting his infamous Carpool Karaoke. Of course, Corden couldn't see Colbert's suggestions through, since they involved a limo with a partition or a motorcycle with a sidecar. While there was a lot of light laughter, the duo did tell each other that while they were both physically alright, mentally they were all on the same page as most people watching the current events unfold in America.

Corden further spoke on the kinds of conversions he's having on his show during these times of protests. "If anything, the greatest thing to come out of these past few months is that I've really enjoyed being open to the notion of thinking I am on a quest for education here. Some of the interviews we've done over the past few weeks or months, I've really taken these away from. We're all having conversations with our children that are different and more insightful. I really feel quite comfortable now talking about these things knowing that I'm quite open to our audience to go 'I've lived in American for 5 years and I've taken a vow of stupidity' but I'm in it to learn and I want to learn more about it," said Corden. You can watch a bit of the clip here.

Colbert also asked Corden about his view on America now to which Corden expressed that in the past he saw America as this "incredible place of opportunism and joy and the American dream was something that I bought into" and how he hangs on to that. He expressed that the last four years have felt like a giant step backward but that America is a young country and is still figuring things out: "It's okay to figure things out," said Corden.

He elaborated that while it may seem that there is a revolution outside while most are indoors, "I think there is a revolution inside," said Corden pointing to his head and heart. He says that people are now saying "I'm part of this and I have to make changes." Corden expressed that while he may have "huge hope" for America's future, Colbert should check back with him in November obviously hinting at the upcoming election.

'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' airs weekdays on CBS.
