Spoilers for 'Space Force' Season 1

When we started watching 'Space Force', we had no idea that the Netflix workplace comedy was going to have so many cliffhangers at the end of Season 1 of 'Space Force'. The final two episodes of the show were a complete rush compared to the rest of the season. However, as chaotic and packed as the finale episode was, it left a lot of things open-ended.

At first, the Chinese defeated the Americans by first landing on the Moon. Following this, they did not waste any time in laying claim to the Sea of Tranquillity, which was supposed to be the landing zone for Space Force - by "not exactly" breaking any space treaty. The Chinese also quickly become dismissive of America's plans to conduct research on the base. Elsewhere, General Mark Naird's (Steve Carell) teenage daughter Erin (Diana Silvers) is adamant on being that annoying kid on television. After she threw a fit about her father dating Kelly King (Jessica St. Clair), she feels like can go beyond the limits of acting out she had set for herself. So she gets in a truck with some crack heads and finds herself in the middle of nowhere desperate to get home.

When she calls her father, he is arrested for treason. She calls her mother Maggie (Lisa Kudrow), she is in jail. She calls her friend Duncan Tabner (Spencer House) who also happens to be arrested. She then tries to take matters in her own hands, till Mark escapes his arrest and rescues her in a helicopter.

On the Moon, the Chinese trample the American flag on the Apollo landing site. This leaves not just Mark but literally everyone at Space Force and the top of the administration livid. Yet some seem to have better control over their instincts. Everyone above Mark jumps at the opportunity to give a hostile answer. The idea is to attack the Chinese base, rendering it completely useless, takeover their surplus and then return to the American base to receive the Chinese scientists as refugees. But Mark, Marine Corps Commandant (Patrick Warburton), Dr Adrian Mallory (John Malkovich) and the Army Chief of Staff (Diedrich Bader) and Joint Chief of the Navy (Jane Lynch), are all against it.

Who knew that when China entered the game, things would get this bad for General Naird. But this is something that he might have never even dreamed of in his wildest dreams. The Americans thought that the Chinese were completely clueless about their mission. As it turns out the Chinese were always a step ahead and did not waste any time in showing their powers. When Space Force returned to their base on the Moon, they are greeted with their own destroyed base, which has now left them without any resources.

So to recap: Two countries have their bases complete with research scientists and astronauts on the moon but both the countries, in a bid to take over the Moon and to prove one better than the other have destroyed each others' research bases and are now on the Moon without any food, water, or resources. Any rescue mission from either country will be a long, stressful, life-threatening one.

Evidently, there is scope for a Season 2. Now Mark is facing the threat of being court-martialed if he is to return to base since he fled police custody to save Erin from the goons. To rescue Erin, even Maggie fled prison with her lover. In a series of comical, random events, she was picked up by Mark and Erin on the way to the base. Now the four are in a helicopter and Mark can't return.

Season 1 of 'Space Force' is currently streaming on Netflix.
