'Songland' Season 2: HER didn't pick Milly's 'Safe Place', but fans say she has the potential to make it big

Even though HER didn't choose MILLY's song, 'Safe Place', she promised to work with her in the studio. Fans, who watched Milly's performance, said though she didn't get through she has what it takes to make it in the music industry. 

'Songland' Season 2 returned on April 27 on NBC and this week's guest artist is none other than singer-songwriter HER. This week, we witnessed four new budding songwriters appear on the show to pitch their song to the Grammy Award-winning singer and judge panel that includes Ryan Tedder, Ester Dean and Shane McAnally. 

The four singers we were introduced to tonight were Axel Mansoor, Milly, Jocelyn Alice and Raquel Castro. After listening to all four songs, HER had to make a decision on which three contestants will move on to the next round and work with the judges to improve their songs. 

Sadly, Milly's song wasn't one among those three. She started by singing gospel songs as a teenager and now has written songs about not giving up on love. “It was something I was going through,” she shared. Milly has been writing songs since she was 14-years-old. Even though they liked her song, it wasn't up to mark compared to the other three songwriters.

Taking to Twitter, a fan wrote, "#Songland I really think Milly's song is going to kick her career off." Adding to that another fan said, "Milly is gonna make it in this industry. She’s got a lot of potential to put herself out there as a unique voice we can all relate to. That being said, all those other songs are so dang good!" 

"Lawd Milly girl she promised you. That’s great!!!!!! #Songland," a fan shared while another fan added, “Safe Place” is  what H.E.R. would do! I would even pass it off to Ella Mai or Kehlani if she don’t produce the song lol. So good!! #Songland." 

"I'm liking this song it sounds like a hit," a fan wrote. Adding to that another fan said, "She could be a new star." 

'Songland' Season 2 airs every Monday night only on NBC. Check your local listings for more information.
