Is 'Sister Wives' star Kody Brown being mean to Meri Brown because she couldn't have more children with him?

Fans called out Kody for hurting Meri with his actions and being mean to her as he does not have the courage to end things with her

Over the years 'Sister Wives' fans have watched the relationship between Meri Brown and her husband Kody Brown deteriorate. As Kody kept adding more wives into his family, things seem to have become harder between the patriarch of the Brown family and his first wife. 

But of late, fans are appalled at watching how poorly Kody is treating his first bride in front of everybody. From making snide and very hurtful statements to completely ignoring her advances in making their marriage work, Kody isn't making any attempt to hide his disinterest in maintaining any relationship with his wife. The recently aired episode featured Kody being his usual mean self towards Meri, but he was luckily checked by not only Meri but also his fourth wife – Robyn. Meri and Robyn called him out for being inconsiderate towards his first wife.

Following the property fiasco, Robyn invited Kody and Meri to sit down with her and hash out their differences. While they were discussing the issue of who would be allowed, which piece of plot, Meri revealed that she never forced Kody to assign any particular piece of land to her, and only told him that she didn't want to be near the trees. Kody misinterpreted this as her not being interested in being near the rest of them, and assigned her the land closer to the road, and created a huge mess. Robyn was furious with Kody for not going back to Meri and trying to clarify things with her and began to lash out at him, while Meri explained that she was upset by Kody's behavior.

With each passing episode it looks like Kody is discovering a new way to be mean and hurtful towards Meri. After watching his behavior towards Meri, fans began wondering why he was being so harsh to her. Several fans wondered if Kody was still holding onto his resentment towards Meri for not being able to bear more children for him. Meri and Kody have only one child together due to her health issues.

I THINK SHE SECRETLY SABOTAGES SO THEY CAN SPLIT MERI'S TIME SHE WOULD HAVE WITH KODY #SisterWives." Another fan wrote, "#sisterwives wow new episode tonight. Kody you're a mean mean man, how dare you I don't need meri she doesn't have children who still need me. It's like you live to humiliate meri, sorry she couldn't birth more babies. That was despicable he has no redeeming qualities.." "Woooooow. So Kody has never gotten over his resentment of the fact that Meri couldn’t have more children and his treatment of her has escalated for years, basting in the hate he has fostered for her. Run sis he is trash. #SisterWives," seconded a fan.

Fans also called out Kody for being mean to Meri, and not having the courage to end things with her instead of hurting her with his actions and words. A fan shared, "@TLC #sisterwives Kody isn't very nice towards Meri. I think if Meri left today, he'd actually be relieved. "I haven't put effort into that relationship bc I have 3 others that are rewarding". How hurtful he is! You deserve a man who'll love you forever. Don't waste anymore time." Another fan expressed, "It's so painful to hear Meri talk about her relationship with Kody. She's still trying to appease him, hoping he'll work on the marriage. He isn't Meri!! You deserve better. Please accept what he keeps showing AND telling you, then dump him and move on. #sisterwives." "Watching how dismissive Kody is of Meri yet won’t have the balls to end the rship is painful viewing. Kody your assertion that Robyn has the concept wrong is what’s wrong. Robyn is the ONLY one who has it right. And STOP blaming Meri for your shortcomings. #SisterWives," pointed a fan.
