'Sister Wives' star Meri Brown faces backlash for charging $600 to join her 'Worthy Up' Facebook group
FLAGSTAFF ARIZONA: 'Sister Wives' star Meri Brown finally launched her long-awaited, business venture, 'Worthy Up', after months of anticipation. However, fans have been surprised by the $600 annual fee to join the TLC star's 'Worthy Up' Facebook group.
The reality star described her new venture as "a community focused on transformation and self-discovery," and "a safe space for individuals to grow, connect, and inspire one another." However, the TLC show star offered three different subscription options for her fans.
According to its website, fans of the TLC star must pay $150 for a Digital Membership for the year 2024 to access the 'Worthy Up' FB group. Along with this membership, they will receive a printable PDF WOW workbook and will be the first to know about upcoming events and WU merch. Meri has been charging $300 for an Inspiration Membership, which includes similar offers as the digital membership with two additional services.
The fans will receive one interactive virtual live discussion/Q&A per month and a WU Merch Package, which includes an autographed mug, hat, journal, sticky notes, and pen. Meanwhile, subscribers must pay $600 for an Impact Membership, which includes an additional 20% discount on Worthy Up events held in 2024 and 2025 membership renewal. Impact members will also receive a special surprise bonus gift from Meri.
However, Meri's new business venture was dubbed as a 'scam' and the social media users called her out in the comment section of her announcement Instagram post. A furious critic commented, "Very expensive. You are missing out on people by charging $600 a year?"
Another person added, "Once again let down cause I can't afford $600 😢." One Instagram user wrote, "Ok but don’t position yourself as a counselor. That’s very dangerous. Unqualified “life coaches” have done a lot of damage." Another added, "Not everyone is living off of a reality show so alot of us don’t have disposable income to pay for god knows what…."
One fan wrote, "You’re pathetic ass is trying to be a life coach for others? WTH? Is this how to be a pathetic ass doormat 101?" Another follower noted, "This is a super scam, people. Sure, it's an empowering community, but you shouldn't have to pay hundreds of dollars to hear positive affirmations every day. FB groups are free."
