'Start a new chapter': Shakira leaves Barcelona after receiving eviction notice from Gerard Pique's dad
BARCELONA, SPAIN: Shakira has permanently left Barcelona after receiving an 'eviction notice' from her ex-husband, Gerard Pique's father, Joan Pique. Spanish media reports that the singer, 46, allegedly received a letter ordering her and her parents to leave the former couple's family home after she sang a song dissing Pique and his new girlfriend on the 'Jimmy Fallon show' last month.
There was a growing speculation in Spain that the letter was the reason why she started crying at a New York store on Monday, April 3, just before her flight back to Barcelona. Shakira was photographed leaving the Catalan city with her two children in order to begin a new life in Florida, but she made no mention of the eviction order in the parting message she posted on Instagram.

'Today we start a new chapter'
The 'Hips Don't Lie' singer wrote, "I settled in Barcelona to give my children a stability, the same we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea. Today we start a new chapter in the pursuit of their happiness. Thank you to everyone who surfed alongside me so many waves there in Barcelona, the city where I learned that friendship is certainly longer than love. Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me up, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow. Thank you to my Spanish audience who have always wrapped me in their love and loyalty. For you just a see you later and as my father said so many times, see you around the curves!"
According to reports, Shakira claimed to have received an email a few days ago from Joan Pique, Gerard's father, and a Spanish newspaper interpreted it as a message from the former footballer's dad. The house is said to have been owned by the former couple before becoming the property of a company called BCN Two & Two in September last year, four months after the artist and ex-Barcelona defender announced their split. Spanish media have not disclosed the amount of "compensation" Shakira would have to pay, as per the terms of the deal when the ownership of the house transferred in September. The singer was given until the end of this month to leave.
Gerard Pique and Shakira's split
Pique and Shakira, who share two sons, announced their separation in June 2022, after 11 years of marriage. "We wish to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the welfare of our children and that will be ratified in court as part of a mere formal procedure," the joint statement said. "Our sole objective is to provide them with the utmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected," it added. The Columbian singer will reportedly relocate to Miami with her children, Milan, 10, and eight-year-old Sasha in early April. Shakira was originally meant to arrive in the US in January. However, she decided to wait until the end of her children's academic year as her 91-year-old father, William Mebarak Chadid, was facing a number of health woes.
