Justin McCall: Florida man gets 20 years in prison for shooting his leg and stealing multiple vehicles
OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA: Justin McCall, 28, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a series of burglary charges he committed. The Florida man got a lot of media attention when it was found that he shot himself in the leg during at least one of these burglaries. He was found guilty on multiple charges in the ruling by retired judge Paul A Rasmussen. In a Monday press release, April 3, State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden released a statement, “In addition to stealing miscellaneous items from the vehicles he burglarized, McCall stole a firearm from an unsecured vehicle."
It also read, “McCall then proceeded to burglarize another vehicle with the stolen firearm in hand. While rummaging through that vehicle, McCall accidentally discharged the firearm and shot himself in the leg which resulted in McCall pleading for help from the very person whose vehicle he had just burglarized.” The convict was charged on the counts of 13 separate crimes in relation to multiple automobile burglaries recorded between late October and early January 2023, as per court documents. McCall shot himself on January 4, 2023, and he was found by OCSO deputies with a gunshot wound to the leg, the sheriff’s office said. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, as per Law&Crime report.

'McCall accidentally shot himself in the leg while stealing firearms'
An ensuing investigation conducted along with the Crestview Police Department found that the defendant had been captured by several home video surveillance cameras breaking into vehicles in the area. McCall shot himself in the leg on January 4, 2023, and was transported to the nearest hospital for treatment by an OCSO deputy. Later, during the investigation carried out by Crestview Police Department, McCall was identified as being recorded by many home video surveillance breaking into vehicles in the area.
'A total of 13 felonies, comprising six counts of burglary, and four counts of grand theft'
“A homeowner on Zach Avenue says she discovered someone had broken into her car and taken her purse. Later, while watching a neighbor’s surveillance video, she saw McCall wearing her white Sperry boots, which had been in her home’s garage, as stated by the OCSO in a press statement. McCall is convicted of a total of 13 felonies, which comprises six counts of burglary, and four counts of grand theft, according to court documents.
