Gerard Pique says he's 'very happy' after splitting from Shakira and moving on with new lover Clara Chia
BARCELONA, SPAIN: Gerard Pique recently expressed that he is "very happy" with his “changed life” after separating from Shakira and moving on with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia. The 36-year-old former Barcelona defender also insisted he’s not concerned about his public image as he reflected on the last few rocky months, which saw him end his 11-year-long relationship with the Columbian singer and retire from football.
In a recent interview, Pique cut down several questions about his tragic separation, by claiming that he "didn't feel like" answering them. He told the Spanish newspaper, El Pais, that "Each parent has the responsibility to try to do the best for their children. It’s about protecting them. That’s the work of all parents with their children. That’s what I’m focused on and that’s my job as a father." Pique said he is not going to spend money to clean his image as he is doing what he wanted. "The day I die, I will look behind me and I hope to have done everything I wanted,” he added, according to Mirror.

'I am very happy'
The former football star then confessed that some "changes" have come in his life but said he knows how to "maintain" his happiness. He said, "The people I worry about and love are the ones that know me. I don’t care about the rest. I channel my energy into being with my people and giving them what I have. I am very happy.” Pique added, “There have been changes in my life and I have known how to maintain my happiness.”
Pique’s latest claims came after he was asked on a Spanish radio show if he has heard his ex-Shakira's famous song with Argentinian DJ Bizarrap. "Yes, obviously," the ex-Barcelona player replied, before adding, 'I don't want to talk about it'. According to Daily Mail, the ‘Waka Waka’ hitmaker used her chartbuster song to ridicule the new couple as she compared herself to a Rolex and Clara Chia to a Casio in a series of scathing insults.

Gerard Pique and Shakira's split
Pique and Shakira, who share two sons, announced their separation in June 2022 after 11 years of relationship. "We wish to communicate that we have signed an agreement that guarantees the welfare of our children and that will be ratified in court as part of a mere formal procedure," the joint statement said. "Our sole objective is to provide them with the utmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected," it added. The Columbian singer will reportedly relocate to Miami with her children, Milan, 10, and eight-year-old Sasha in early April. Shakira was originally meant to arrive in the US in January. However, she decided to wait until the end of her children's academic year as her 91-year-old father, William Mebarak Chadid, was facing a number of health woes.
