Top 5 sexiest outfits on 'RuPaul’s Drag Race': From Nina Bo’nina Brown's Lady Gaga look to Valentina's ode to Madonna
‘RuPaul’s drag race’ has given its viewers one iconic look one after another. Here are the top five times the reality TV show left its viewers speechless.
‘Don’t be a drag, just be a queen’
For the very first runway challenge of Season 9, contestants wore their very best Lady Gaga drag, and sitting there in the judging panel was the ‘Paparazzi’ queen Lady Gaga herself. Drag queen Nina Bo’nina Brown recreated Lady Gaga’s MTV VMAs 2009 with her own personalized touch.
The sheer lace bodysuit that goes all the way up to the head was probably one of the hardest Lady Gaga looks to recreate and to walk down the runway given the fact that it was impossible to “see anything through the fabric” as Nina confirmed later. “Yes, Queen! Yes! This was one of the biggest nights of my life,” says Lady Gaga at the judge’s panel. “I am serving a black version of lady gaga,” explains Nina Bo’nina Brown.
Gasping for oxygen
Season 7 winner Violet Chachki is a queen known for her aesthetics. Already a fashion designing student at the time, Violet came to the competition to slay! She gave the viewers some of the most iconic looks all through her season that definitely set standards very high, like her two-in-one look for the premiere episode.
For the ‘Death becomes her’ runway challenge, Violet Chachki came with her 19 inches waist synched with an oxygen tank by her side. “I am numb waist below, I really could die b**#h,” says Violet. Guest judge Ariana Grande and RuPaul herself gasped the moment she stepped on the runway. “She has a smaller waist than barbie,” says judge Michelle Visage.
Angel wings
Courtney Act and her white wings made the judges gasp as she brought Victoria’s Secret to the Drag Race runway. “Oh my god! Heaven must be missing an angel,” says RuPaul as she struts down the runway looking like a million bucks.
The Australian beauty and former Australian idol participant who had received several compliments for her good looks and angelic voice made her position stronger with this look as the top three queens of the season.
The Pineapple dress
During the ‘Miss Universe 2003’ pageant, Miss Philippines wore a pineapple inspired dress which inspired drag queen Manila Luzon, who went on to become a legendary drag queen and her pineapple dress has been recreated quite a number of times.
The idea of a sexy high fashioned couture that can also be “funny and goofy” is just Manila’s style and this dress definitely left a mark.
Ban censorship
This material girl rocked very little material onstage for the ‘Night of 1000 Madonna' runway challenge., but she did more with two strategically placed black censor bars than the other contestants did with yards of lace and tulle.
Copying an iconic image from Madonna’s X-rated Sex book, Valentina walked down the runway nearly naked but the way she presented it became a ‘Herstory’ of the drag race.
