Enhypen Jake clarifies Itaewon scandal, fans ask label Belift Labs to 'do better'

Days after the release of photos alleging that Jake of Enhypen was 'picking up women in Itaewon', the singer clarifies the rumors

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: The controversy around Enhypen's Jake can finally come to rest now as the singer himself takes to Weverse to tell fans that it was not him in the photos. On August 23, Korean media posted a couple of images with a man in blonde hair and a baseball cap alleging that it was Jake from Enhypen who was roaming around in Itaewon with the intention of 'hooking up with women' by asking them to borrow their lighters for a smoke.

Since this controversy alleged that Jake was hooking up in public as well as that he is a smoker, there was a severe backlash against the singer online. Fans defended the singer to their best but demanded that Belift Labs (Enhypen's label) do something about it and release a statement over the issue. Seems like the issue was not straightened out on its own because Jake's recent message to fans was twisted by the Korean media. Jake has now addressed the Itaewon scandal and reassured fans, asking them to trust him.

Jake takes to Weverse to defend himself

On August 26, Jake made a heartfelt post to fans, thanking them for supporting him through his ups and downs after the end of Enhypen's appearance at the 'KCON 2022 LA'. The singer shared his gratitude to fans who were with him in everything he did and shared how much he enjoyed meeting Engenes (fans of Enhypen) in person. Following this, the Korean media started twisting his words claiming that the singer was taking accountability for the scandal by apologizing to fans who were with him in his bad times which they assumed to be the scandal.

Engenes, infuriated by this, continued to seek answers from Belift Labs but the label has still been tight-lipped about the controversy. On August 27, a fan directly asked Jake on Weverse to clarify the controversy and shockingly got a response from the Enhypen member. The fan said, "Jake is the Itaewon hunting (controversy) for real?" To this, Jake responded by saying, "No it's not, I hope you believe me." With this, fans are now sharing supportive messages to Jake, telling him that they trust him.

Moreover, Engenes are lashing out at Belift Labs for not doing better by protecting their artist but leaving them to defend themselves. One fan said, "Jake took the chance to atleast clear out his name because his company could never lmao @BELIFTLAB useless mf, protect your artists!!!" One more fan said, "Belift having their night out while jake has to clear his own name own wv,,, that says a lot about belift :-) cant do shit to protect their artists." Another fan said, "I'm still so mad at people for spreading it to the point that Jake had to speak for himself because people be twisting narratives. We trust you Jake. Always and forever."

One more fan said, "Jake really had to step forward and found the need to clear up the issue for himself because his company, whose purpose is to protect their idols among other duties, is staying silent and letting ppl tarnish the name of their artist with false accusations. BELIFT DO BETTER." Another fan said, "Jake clearing his name on his own on weverse because his damn company can't even do shit for him and the rest of his members like they have faced too much hate & a lot of bashing i have no idea just how hard these days have been for them. belift, you seriously had ONE job."
