‘Schooled’ season 2: Release date, plot, cast, and everything else you need to know about ‘The Goldbergs’ spin-off

Set in 1990-something, the spin-off 'Schooled' follows the faculty of William Penn Academy, led by their new music teacher Lainey Lewis (AJ Michalka), Principal Glascott (Tim Meadows), Coach Mellor (Bryan Callen) and young, enthusiastic teacher Charlie Brown or popularly known as CB (Brett Dier), as they deal with their own personal quirks and eccentricities and also teach valuable life lessons to the students.

Plot
‘Schooled’ is a spin-off of the popular show ‘The Goldbergs’. The show follows the life of Lainey Lewis (played by AJ Michalka), who played the role of Erica Goldberg’s (played by Hayley Orrantia) best friend and Barry Goldberg’s (Troy Gentile) love interest. In the sixth season of The Goldbergs, Lainey’s character leaves Jenkintown for L.A. to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a recording artist. The series ‘Schooled’ picks up from there and shows Lainey returning to Jenkintown after she doesn’t find any success in L.A and takes up a job as a music teacher at her alma mater William Penn Academy. ABC network summarizes the show as, "despite their eccentricities and crazy personal lives, these teachers are heroes to their students.”

AJ Michalka

AJ Michalka dons the role of her character Lainey Lewis from the popular sitcom 'The Goldbergs'. Lainey is back to Jenkintown after her dream of becoming a popular recording artist falls through. She returns to her hometown and takes up a job as the music teacher in her former alma mater, William Penn Academy. AJ Michalka is an American singer, actress and model, who is popular as the one half of the musician duo 'Aly and AJ'.
Tim Meadows

The role of principal John Glascott is played by the versatile actor Tim Meadows. Meadows also played the role of guidance counselor on the original show 'The Goldbergs'. He is best known as one of the longest-running cast members on 'Saturday Night Live'.
Actor Bryan Callen plays the role of coach Rick Mellor and Brett Dier plays the role of over-enthusiastic teacher Charlie Brown.
Creators
The spin-off has been created by Marc Firek and Adam Goldberg. Goldberg is best known for creating the show 'The Goldbergs', which is loosely based on his life in the '80s. Marc Firek is also the writer and co-producer of 'The Goldbergs'. They teamed up to create the spin-off 'Schooled' which aired as a special episode on 'The Goldbergs' and was later picked up as a show.
