'Saturday Night Live': Bowen Yang does perfect impression of Elton John, fans call him 'one of the funniest'
The much-awaited new episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’ is back after almost a month. The December 5 episode was hosted by Jason Bateman and the musical guest was Morgan Wallen. However, there was one particular cast member who seemed to have impressed the fans a lot – Bowen Yang as Sir Elton John.
In one of the skits, Bateman played Santa Claus with Chloe Fineman, Kyle Mooney and Beck Bennett played elves in Santa’s workshop. Pete Davidson parodied Eminem’s hit ‘Stan’ into the Christmas-themed skit ‘Stu’. All Davidson wants for Christmas this year is a PlayStation 5. However, he gets irked when Santa doesn’t answer any of his letters.
Eminem’s ‘Stan’ featured Dido singing the chorus and Kate McKinnon took on that role in ‘Stu’. Even though Eminem himself appeared in a cameo in the parody video, Yang’s Sir Elton John had everyone talking. Eminem and Sir Elton John also famously dueted the track at the 43rd Annual Grammy Awards, so Yang took on that role.
A fan said, “Best skit of the year @nbcsnl My favorite part was Bowen Yang's Elton John!” Another said, “I would like more Bowen Yang in general. SNL! Netflix show! Whatever! Who do I call about this, @nbcsnl?” One user said, “Bowen Yang needs to be a regular cast member ASAP”. A user commented, “I love bowen yang and i’m never gonna shut up about it #SNL.”
A fan shared, “I have to wait a little longer for SNL to get on Hulu since I'm overseas, but super pumped seeing all the Bowen Yang love!” One concurred, “Bowen Yang was one of the best things to happen to snl in recent years omg.” Another said, “Bowen Yang has to be one of the funniest snl cast members. His elton John was perfection!”

Meanwhile, for the cold open, the late-night sketch comedy series chose to parody the Michigan state senate hearing event, featuring Kate McKinnon as Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, Cecily Strong as "star witness" Melissa Carone and Chloe Fineman as Nicole Kidman’s character from ‘The Undoing'(aka Grace Fraser).
McKinnon’s Giuliani began the sketch by saying it was exciting to “just be in a courtroom where I’m not the defendant.” McKinnon’s Giuliani was also interrupted by fart noises that the character claimed “wasn’t me; that was you guys”.
Strong’s Carone came in and said, “I personally saw hundreds, if not thousands, of dead people vote,” she said. “I ‘member because I was walking to and they were walking in and then they gave their votes to democrats and you probably did something crazy with them. … Did you talk to the dead people?”
Strong also impersonated Carone’s mispronunciation of “affidavit” during her real testimony. When it sounded like she said “after David”, Strong’s Carone said, “That’s right ’cause David signed and then I signed after David.”
‘Saturday Night Live’ airs at 11.30 pm ET on NBC.
