'Families of the Mafia': Sammy Gravano's wealth has fans saying he hid cash before serving time for 19 murders
Sammy 'The Bull' Gravano is back and that too on reality TV. The former underboss of the Gambino crime family made quite the dramatic entry in MTV's 'Families of the Mafia'. He is a changed man now but after over 18 years in prison, who wouldn't be?
In the past, Sammy had confessed to being involved in 19 murders, following which he steered in a completely different direction by becoming a government informant, subsequently helping nab as many as 39 mobsters.
On the show, he sits in his lavish Arizona mansion fearing that Staten Island is a potential threat the lives of his daughter Karen Gravano and granddaughter, Karina Seabrook because of the dark history he has left behind in that place.
But will they change their mind and move places just so that Sammy could be at peace? Karina has her whole life there and to shift at this point in life may take a lot of convincing.
The six-episode series will follow the mob families and what transpired in the two years that they were taped. For Sammy, it was not a difficult decision to make. He agreed to star in the show once he saw how important it was for Karen. "He pretty much spent most of his life in prison. And seeing that I’ve done shows and a book before, he supported me," the reality TV star-author told Fox News.
Meanwhile, fans are wondering how Sammy has so much wealth that he still lives in a mansion. Some joked he must have buried some money before he left for prison.
"Sammy orchestrated one of the biggest hits in mob history to become Underboss. Cooperated with the feds. Convicted of murder, multiple crimes. Fast forward 20 years later. On national television smoking a stogie by the pool. Legendary #FamiliesOfTheMafia," a fan shared. Another wrote: "Sammy the Bull is living in a mansion in Arizona after being incarcerated for 18 years?!! How the hell he still have money??? #Impressive #FamiliesOfTheMafia."
"chileee sammy clearly had some money buried somewhere cause this house is way too nice for a man who just came home #FamiliesOfTheMafia," a viewer expressed, while another tweeted: "How does Sammy have this big ass house? Or is that just a meeting spot? #FamiliesoftheMafia."
"How tf Sammy the Bull got out of prison and bought a mansion? He must have a really good credit score #FamiliesOfTheMafia," a user joked.
