'Riverdale' Season 4: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and everything else about The CW show
'Riverdale' season 3 has officially come to an end. The series might have left fans and viewers with a lot of questions, but fear not, as the series has been renewed for season 4.
Come October, the series will premiere with all-new episodes from season 4 with our favorite heroes of Riverdale getting ready for their senior year and trying to survive whoever and whatever is out to get them.
'Riverdale' premiered on January 26, 2017, and after positive reviews, the series was renewed for season 2 and 3. While we can't wait to see what happens to Archie, Betty, Veronica and Jughead, here's everything you need to know about the forthcoming season of CW's 'Riverdale.'
Release date
'Riverdale' season 4 will release on CW on October 9th, 2019 in the same time slot, 8 pm ET.
Plot
'Riverdale' revolves around Archie Andrews, his friends and their life in a small town known as Riverdale. They explore the darkness that is hidden behind the perfect image their town portrays. Season 3 ended with Jughead missing, Betty, Archie, and Veronica standing over a fire covered in blood and Archie having Jughead's bloodied and soiled beanie in his hands. They decide to destroy the evidence, graduate from school and go their own ways.
Cast
The series has a star-studded cast with KJ Apa playing the role of Archie Andrews a high school football player who has a strong love for music. Marisol Nichols plays the role of Hermione Lodge who is married to Hiram Lodge who is played by Mark Consuelos.
Adding firepower to the cast is Madelaine Petsch who portrays Cheryl Blossom while Betty's mom, Alice Cooper, is played by Mädchen Amick.
Lili Reinhart plays the role of Betty Cooper who befriends new girl Veronica Lodge played by Camila Mendes. Cole Sprouse plays the role of Jughead and Charles Melton plays the role of Reggie Mantle, Veronica's on and off again boyfriend. No new additions to the cast have been mentioned as of now. The cast recently suffered the loss of Luke Perry who died in March this year. He used to play the role of Fred Andrews, Archie's dad.
Creator
'Riverdale' was developed by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa a Nicaraguan-American playwright, screenwriter, and comic book writer. Sacasa is known for his work in Marvel Comics. He is also known for his work in the television series Glee, Big Love and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. He is also the Chief Creative Officer of Archie Comics.
Trailer
The trailer of 'Riverdale' Season 4 dropped September 11 and it looks like Archie, Veronica, Jughead and Betty are in for some surprises, and not of the good kind. Scenes in the trailer suggest the show will only feature more dark secrets and violence.
We see a search party calling out for Jughead clearly indicating he may have gone missing. We also see Betty being whacked with a bat and before all of this, we see her confessing to someone: "What I am about to tell you, puts everything on the line."
Veronica says everything is going to change in nine months when they pass out of high school and the four friends clink their glasses to moments they've shared in high school, but it looks like not all of it might be the kind they cherish.
News
The series is set to return to screens on October 9th for season 4 and fans of Luke Perry will not want to miss the premiere episode titled 'In Memoriam' when it airs. Recently the series revealed that they will honor the late actor who played the role of Fred Andrews. "Probably the most important episode of #Riverdale we’ll do this year, if not ever. A tribute to our fallen friend. Thankful for this opportunity to honor Luke & Fred," tweeted Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
