'Riverdale': Will Season 4 trace the adult life of the core four and Archie's marriage?

If so, then this could see the show borrow elements from the 'Archie Marries Veronica/Archie Marries Betty' comics issues

With 'Riverdale' Season 4 inching to a close, the bigger question for fans would be about what's in store for the teens next. The CW teen drama left nothing to chance when it introduced the show in 2017. From Jason Blossom's murder to an in-depth narration of the lives of core fours — Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) — four seasons of the hit show have managed to keep the audience glued with some major twists and turns over the course of the three-year journey.

With season 4 exploring the senior year phase of the teens, it's safe to assume the fifth installment would probably revolve around the adult life of these characters. What if Season 5 would see a married Archie?

This could see the show borrow elements from the 'Archie Marries Veronica/Archie Marries Betty' comics issues by writer Michael Uslan and artists Stan Goldberg and Bob Smith. The storyline was originally seen in comics 'Archie #600 to 606 where it's a flash-forward to the red-headed teen's life. The first three issues see him getting hitched to Ronnie and later the story switches to him proposing marriage to Betty with the final issue serving as an epilogue.

This plotline wouldn't be a stretch to imagine, considering the show also has ties to 'Katy Keene' which is set five years into the future. With the possibilities of crossovers increasing each season, it surely makes sense if the show uses the marriage storyline while also giving the supporting characters their own storylines. Adding to this the fact that KJ Apa's statement to the Los Angeles Times that the main stars are under contract for three more years.

Essentially, this means we'll have seven seasons of 'Riverdale' and that's ample time to explore the adult lives of the teens and also trace their marriage journey. At the moment, the show's production is halted following the outbreak of COVID-19 and there is no update on when the show would return on air. We're guessing it's going to be a bit of a wait.

Meanwhile, what are your thoughts on the upcoming seasons of 'Riverdale' looking at the core four's married lives?

'Riverdale' Season 4 airs 8 pm Wednesdays on The CW.
