'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 5 preview: 'Witness for the prosecution' will introduce Veronica's sister Hermosa, the other apple of Hiram Lodge's eye

It doesn't come as a surprise that this episode focuses its attention on Ronnie. The other episodes have dished out new challenges for the three of the core four and this time it's the charismatic Lodge's turn, or should we say Luna?

'Riverdale' season 4 has been a pacy, gritty and steamy affair so far. Big changes have rung in for the teens in their senior year and the mysteries have already begun to creep in. The secrecy surrounding the videotapes continues, while each of the teens is also fighting their own demons. The title of the upcoming episode, 'Witness for the Prosecution' thrusts Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) into the spotlight as she takes the stand for the trial of her parents, Hiram and Hermoine Lodge (Mark Consuelos and Marisol Nichols).

The official synopsis reads: "Caught between Hiram (Mark Consuelos) and Hermoine’s (Marisol Nichols) double trial, Veronica (Camila Mendes) grapples with what the future holds for her family. Archie (KJ Apa) finds himself the unexpected target of the town’s local businesses. Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Kevin (Casey Cott) join the Junior FBI Training Program, and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) learns some surprising information about his family history. Madchen Amick, Skeet Ulrich, and Charles Melton also star."

To begin with, the episode's title is borrowed from Billy Wider's '57 courtroom drama. While Ronnie tells the press that she will not be taking either of her parent's sides, it is still unclear how the drama will pan out. This episode will also introduce the new Lodge in town.

At New York, Comic-Con 2019, series creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that Veronica's older sister, Hermosa (Mishel Prada), will be coming by starting in episode 5. "We're meeting Veronica's older sister this season. Her name is Hermosa and she is as scheming as her father," he said during the Riverdale panel. "I think at one point Veronica says something like, 'she's just like daddy, but a woman, so she's more dangerous.'"

"She is introduced in episode 5, which is the big Lodge trials. One of my good friends, Tanya Saracho, runs the show Vida and I'm a big fan of both of those actresses and I wanted to get them on the show," Aguirre-Sacasa told Seventeen. "She's the other apple of Hiram's eye. She lives in Miami, where she's been doing what Veronica does in Riverdale, she's been running nightclubs and stuff. And one thing we haven't seen with Veronica, because she's an only child, is sibling rivalry. So that will be really really fun to play."

It doesn't come as a surprise that this episode focuses its attention on Ronnie. The other episodes have dished out new challenges for the three of the core four and this time it's the charismatic Lodge's turn, or should we say Luna?

We can't wait to see Hermosa.

'Riverdale ' airs Wednesdays 8 pm on The CW.
