This article contains spoilers for 'Riverdale' Season 4 Episode 10: 'Varsity Blues'

Stonewall's Quill and Skull secret society has its own share of shady business and people for that matter, but the midseason premiere titled 'Varsity Blues' saw them being involved in a lot more than literary critique.

Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) has made it her mission to tarnish the reputation of Bret Wallis (Sean Depner) — on valid grounds that is.

Although Jughead managed to figure out the first Baxter Brother book mystery involving his grandfather, it doesn't look like the secret society is in the clear. We can now add planned bounties on the heads of rival players and dishing secrets at initiations to Stonewall's dark resume.

Wallis, who seems to want to be a cool leader on all fronts, is part of the prestigious undefeated football team at Stonewall Prep and also part of the Quill and Skull secret society.

With these two worlds perfectly in his grasp, he seems to be able to take down Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), his rival on the field, and coax Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), his literary rival, simultaneously.

As the Bulldogs prepare for their senior championship game against Stonewall, Betty is tasked by Principal Honey to write a piece in the Blue and Gold to celebrate the upcoming game.

With Munroe "Mad Dog" Moore (Eli Goree) and Reggie Mantle (Ross Butler) revealing that the Prep's play dirty, Betty goes all-in for an opportunity to write an expose. Having Brett reveal football as "not a knitting circle" but "social Darwinism", his obvious vile intentions had Betty poking into dirty businesses.

After speaking with players that were on the field against Stonewall and researching herself, Betty realized that a grave injury is always sustained by Stonewall's rivals - only. She found out from a player that the "bigger the injury, the higher the bounty."

Stonewall's Coach pays his players to hurt their opponents, and even rich preppy kids won't say no to money and a winning streak combo.

Betty and Veronica Lodge plan to send Lodge to a Stonewall football party to get Bret to "brag about hurting Munroe" but what they found out instead was that Jughead was part of the Quill and Skull secret society — the hosts of the party.

Stonewall is "playing to hurt" on the field, while Wallis continues Jughead's initiation. There isn't a chance that a 'Riverdale' resident has no secrets, and so one of the clauses of being initiated into the Quill and Skull secret society at Stonewall requires the dishing of your "deepest darkest secrets."

We're thinking that this is so that blackmail is rather easy, anyone else feeling the "farmie" vibe again?

Wallis is playing games on and off the field, and with Principal Honey refusing to publish Betty's expose, we have to wait a tad bit longer for that prestigious bubble to burst.

'Riverdale' Season 4 airs on Wednesdays at 8 pm on The CW.
