'Mostly recovered': Richard Gere’s wife Alejandra Silva provides update after actor's pneumonia hospitalization
NUEVO VALLARTA, MEXICO: Richard Gere’s wife Alejandra has posted a series of happy pictures and claimed that the Gere family is doing well now. The 73-year-old actor had been hospitalized with pneumonia during a family vacation in Mexico.
Gere, along with his wife of five years and their two children, was in Mexico to celebrate Alejandra’s 40th birthday. However, all of them fell ill during the trip. Richard Gere "developed a bad cough ... and it continued while he was there as well," TMZ cited sources at the time. As his condition worsened, the actor checked himself into a hospital, where he was "diagnosed with pneumonia and treated in an overnight stay,” the sources added.

‘I feel much better'
Then, in a February 17 Instagram post, Alejandra shared, “Thank you all for the birthday wishes.. after almost 3 weeks of everyone being sick in our family today finally I feel much better! Thank you for all the love ❤️ I give it all back to you! 💫 #happybirthday #happy40.”
A subsequent post said, “I woke up this morning and I saw the news and all your kind and worry messages, he is recovering ❤️🩹 he is feeling much better today! The worst has already passed! Thank you all for your sweet messages we really appreciate them! ♥️♥️ #thankyou.”
The Spanish publicist released another update a week ago, writing, “Hi everyone, a little update, Richard is feeling much better, we are all feeling much better, ‘almost’ back to normal.. we want to thank doctor Rios’s and the hospital la Joya. We came to Mexico to continue with our conservation project south of Puerto Vallarta, we all came not feeling well from NY, our youngest James and Richard got Pneumonia and Alexander and I had sinusitis and ear infections, now we are all well and almost fully recovered. Thank you all for your messages! Richard wanted me to post this second photo to show you that he is feeling much better 🙃.”

Alejandra’s latest share showed her celebrating her milestone birthday with family and friends. She captioned the images, “What an amazing birthday! Thank you all my friends and family for making it so special!💫♥️ #happybirthday! Ps: as you can see we are all mostly recovered..”
