‘RHONY’ star Kelly Bensimon breaks silence after calling off wedding to fiance Scott Litner days before nuptials
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Kelly Bensimon is spilling the beans on calling off her wedding to her financier fiance, Scott Litner, just four days before the two lovebirds were supposed to walk down the aisle.
'The Real Housewives of New York City' alum recently confirmed the news of the pair's split.
"He thought that I would enter this union without legal protections in place, that I would leave everything to faith," Kelly shared in a statement to Entertainment Tonight.
The Bravo star further added, "But I've worked really, really, hard as a single mother and have always made smart decisions for myself and my family, and that will continue."
Kelly's representative expressed that she was disappointed by the situation as she was eager to start a new chapter with Scott, but realized that it wasn't going to work out. Scott, a wealth management advisor, reportedly declined to sign a prenuptial agreement, leading her to reconsider their relationship shortly before their wedding.
"It was a rough day for me, but I could never start a life together under those circumstances. I wish him well," she continued.
The former couple was planning to get married in Litner's mother's backyard in Boston in front of their loved ones on June 29.
How did Kelly Bensimon and Scott Litner meet?
While having a chat with People magazine in December 2023, Kelly Bensimon revealed the details of her first meeting with Scott Litner.
"When I first met him, I didn’t even say anything. I was speechless — which is not like me, I always have something to say," she told the media outlet.
At that point in time, Kelly went on to say, "But he blew me away. He’s just a really special human."
Kelly and Scott became engaged last year during the Fourth of July weekend after dating for a year.
In late May, the TV personality revealed to People that she had gone wedding dress shopping at Kleinfeld Bridal in New York City. She offered words of encouragement for older brides in their 50s, 60s, and 70s.
"I just want everyone out there who's getting married for the second time or third or fourth or fifth time, or how many ever times, [to know that] you can call me if you want if you want someone to congratulate you. I will be here cheering for you," she added.

Earlier this month, Kelly Bensimon revealed to Page Six that she had come close to tears while trying on wedding gowns.
“Literally, when I was trying on the dress, I almost started crying,” she recalled the moment when she found her wedding dress for the big day.
She added, “I was just like, ‘I’m just so emotional’ — just because it’s so beautiful and everyone here has been so supportive and excited for me."
Kelly stressed that she never imagined getting married again and continued, “I’m getting married later in life and I never thought this would happen. I just would not change this day and the leading up to it."
