On April 6, 2020, the mobile video streaming service, Quibi launched with the aim of breaking rules and introducing a new way of consuming media content. Coming from media vets like Meg Whitman and Jeffrey Katzenberg, and raising a billion-dollar worth of financing from the leading media houses of the country, the app did set a lot of expectations.

The streaming service’s all-star lineup has managed to pique everyone’s interest. With A-list names like Sophie Turner, Lena Waithe, Liam Hemsworth, Chrissy Teigen, Chance the Rapper, LeBron James, Spielberg and Zac Efron, and more of these to come in the future, it looks like Quibi was all set to take its portfolio to the next level.

But despite all the star power and novel content format, the mobile streaming app has not fetched the response that it had set out for. Here’s why:

For starters, the app landed at the wrong time. With the coronavirus outbreak forcing lockdowns around the nation and the world, this turned out to be a time for binge-watching content and the whole concept of “content on the go” went down the drain. However, as they say, there’s a taker for every product in the world, Quibi has managed to find its footing among the constantly hungry audience.

Secondly, people are still grappling with the new content approach, bite-sized episodes, chapter-wise movies, and with the 24-hour wait period leading to just watch another 5 to 10 minutes of programming, is most likely letting the audience down.

After all the yays and the nays, and mixed reactions from critics, fans, and reviewers, we have narrowed down the shows and movies on Quibi which will help you discriminate better for the ones to see and the ones to skip.
