Will his web of lies and deceit keep Hae-in and Hyun-woo forever apart? As the clock ticks down to Hae-in's memories, a thrilling race against time unfolds. Can their love conquer all, or will a sea of forgotten memories drown their love?
Hong Hae-in's curious mind brings her closer to Baek Hyun-woo in 'Queen of Tears' Episode 15
We see a potential reunion between Hae-in and Hyun-woo, but it's a reunion filled with heartbreak and manipulation. The scene where they meet in prison is a punch to the gut.
Despite the accusations occurring from Hae-in's confused mind, their undeniable love shines through. It's infuriating to see her warped memories control her actions, but it also highlights how effective Eun-seong's villainous plan has been.
However, this portrayal of Hae-in, a character who is usually strong and independent, feels frustratingly naive in this situation. Hae-in's behavior after the prison visit is also a head-scratcher. Meanwhile, Hyun-woo's care for Hae-in was shining behind the jail wall.
Afterward, following Hyun-woo around seems out of character for her due to the bad portrayal of Hyun-woo's intention by Eun-seong. While we understand her desperation to understand what's happening, this stalkerish behavior feels like a strange yet adorable rom-comish choice by the writers.
Hong Hae-in puts together broken pieces of memories in 'Queen of Tears' Episode 15
Adding to the confusion is the presence of Hong Soo-cheol (Kwak Dong-yeon) with Hyun-woo's family. This unnecessary complexity throws a wrench into the narrative, making things more confusing for viewers.
Thankfully, the episode throws us a lifeline in the form of Hae-in's diary with Hae-in's confession of her feelings for Hyun-woo. This is a major turning point, giving her the power to fight for her memories and reclaim control of her life.
A more impactful scene would have been Hae-in slowly piecing together her memories on her own, but despite these ups and downs, Episode 15 excels at emotional manipulation.
The frustration of seeing Hae-in and Hyun-woo kept apart is palpable, but the arrival of the diary offers a glimmer of hope.
