Why King George left Queen Charlotte alone on the wedding night?

The episode reveals that King George clearly fell for Queen Charlotte at first glance. However, he felt that it was unfair to live with her and burden the Queen with his illness. Thus, he decided to keep his distance and stayed at Kew's residence. It was until after Queen Charlotte’s surprise visit to him at the observatory concerning her wanting his husband that King George was determined to go to any lengths for the Queen. Regrettably, unaware of the truth, the fans and Queen Charlotte accused the King of being an as***ole to her. It was nothing compared to what King George went through during his wedding night. To get permanent treatment for his mental illness, the King authorized Dr Monro to use his ambiguous treatment methods. Sadly, on the wedding night, King George was going through hell as he was relentless in saving himself for Queen Charlotte.

Dr Monroe’s treatment for King George’s illness

To help her son, Princess Augusta seeks the services of Dr Monro. He specializes in the treatment of people with ‘disorganization of the nerves.’ He helped King George stay sane throughout the wedding. When King George had an episode on his wedding day, the Dr slapped him, reflecting his out-of-the-box methods, which actually worked. His treatment was terrifying and horrible. For him, torturing people out of their comfort zone helps in treating them and bringing them back to sanity. As King George was persistent in getting well, he went through heartbreaking and scary treatment, which consisted of torturing the King using ice-cold baths, unpleasant shaving sessions, and a torture chair.

With time, King George got tired of the doctor's methods and decided to pay more attention to Queen Charlotte by spending more time with her. Flashing back to the present day, Queen Charlotte is on her way to question Princess Augusta about what she encountered. King George follows her and overhears his mother and wife fighting. Unhappily, the King gets back to the doctor and starts again with the horrific treatment.

The episode has left its fans wondering about the future of the marriage between Queen Charlotte and King George.
