'Propagandist nut-crackery': Russell Brand slams MSNBC in viral rant
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Russell Brand, who starred in 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall', launched into a hysterical tirade on the perils of big pharma, media bias, and the military-industrial complex. Brand got into a confrontation with lefty MSNBC analyst John Heilemann during an interview on 'Real Time with Bill Maher', accusing him of ignoring his own biases while decrying competitor station, Fox News.
"It's difficult to suggest that's because these corporations operate as anything other than mouthpieces for their affiliate owners in Blackrock and Vanguard," Brand told Heilemann. Brand added, "We have to take responsibility for our own perspective." He added, "I've been on that MSNBC mate, it was a propagandist nut-crackery over there."

MSNBC no different from FoxNews
"It's disingenuous to claim that the biases that are exhibited on Fox News are any different from the biases exhibited on MSNBC," he said. The comedian also brought up his "absurd" appearance on 'Morning Joe' on MSNBC. "No one could concentrate, they didn't understand the basic tenets of journalism," he claimed. Brand added, "No one was willing to stick up for genuine American heroes like Edward Snowden. No one was willing to talk about Julian Assange and what he's suffered – trying to bring real journalism to the American people."

"You don't actually know anything about any of these organizations you're talking about," Heilemann rebutted. He added, "You've been on MSNBC once, big f***ing deal! You don't have a single actual fact." The 'Minions' actor brought up MSNBC's criticisms of Joe Rogan and ivermectin after the liberal analyst pressed Brand to give an example of a host or correspondent lying on television. Brand then accused the network of "deliberately referring to this as a horse medicine when they know this is an effective medicine."
Brand's claims labeled as conservative 'talking points'
Ivermectin, a drug that can be used to treat parasite infestations in both humans and animals, has frequently been demonstrated to be ineffective in treating Covid-19. Rachel Maddow, a host on MSNBC, echoed the widespread misconception that the Covid-19 vaccination totally inoculates against symptoms and transmission, in a March 2021 program, which was another error Brand called attention to.
Heilemann dismissed Brand's tirade as exaggerated conservative "talking points." Maher, who remained unusually silent throughout the conversation, was also informed by Brand that the US needs "new political systems that genuinely represent ordinary Americans so that we can overcome cultural differences."
Finally, the host of the program joked that the pandemic detractors "look better these days." The Wuhan lab leak scenario, which has gained greater popularity recently, was also covered by the panel. While Brand brought up the current administration's criticism of the theory as "doubling down on authoritarianism," Heilemann accused former president Donald Trump of politicizing the Covid-19 pandemic.
