BASTROP, TEXAS: 'Shazam!' star Zachary Levi is facing a lot of backlash for his latest tweet endorsing anti-vax opinions. This comes just weeks before the release of DC's superhero film 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods'. The sequel, starring the 42-year-old actor, is all set to release on March 17. After his tweet, internet users were quick to react. While a section of fans found Levi's stand as "disappointing," others were concerned that this would hamper the movie's success.

The trailer of 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' dropped on Thursday, January 26. The sequel will witness Billy Batson and his foster siblings, who transform into superheroes by saying "Shazam!", getting back into action as they fight the Daughters of Atlas and stop them from using a weapon that could destroy the world. The first film, which was released in 2019, was a box-office success and received positive reviews from critics.

'Shazam!' star Zachary Levi slammed over anti-vax tweet

In his response to a tweet saying, "Do you agree or not, that Pfizer is a real danger to the world?" Levi wrote, "Hardcore agree."

Twitter users reacted sharply as they found the tweet "extremely disappointing." "This is an extremely disappointing stance for you to take, and I hope you eventually understand why and learn from this," wrote a user. "Such a shame... never pegged you for an anti-vaxxer. #unfollowed," added another. A user advised Levi to delete the tweet and wrote, "I advise you to delete that."

A user questioned if this was a joke and wrote, "Is there a joke coming up or did you really just lost all of our respect?" Several users believed that this tweet would lead to Levi getting recast. "Good thing you’re getting recast," wrote a user. "Anyway so what do we all think about Alan Ritchson as the new DCU Shazam???" added another.

A user defended the vaccines and wrote, "A vaccine that's saved millions of people from spending months on a ventilator which they may not get off from. Considering your so big in researching I'm actually disappointed in this statement." While another user wrote, "Ooh, that’s made me think hard about following you. Shame, only just started to. Oh well, no loss to you."

Another user lambasted Levi, as they tweeted, "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST BE SILENT YOU HAVE AN UPCOMING MOVIE & THIS TWEET IS LITERALLY FOOD FOR EVERYONE PRAYING ON YOUR DOWNFALL, IT GIVES BAD PR FOR YOU, THE TEAM & THE MOVIE."

Another user hoped that Levi would clarify this matter and wrote, "I really hope you don't mean this in a vaccination conspiracy theory way. That would be extremely disappointing, although I doubt you'd care what a random (potentially former) fan thought of you."

However, a few users supported Levi. "I appreciate your willingness to take that stance," wrote a user, while another added, "Well I for one appreciate you for calling it as you see it, Zach. Despite what it could entail for you. The reaction to having differing thoughts; especially from those who like to proclaim themselves as "diverse", "tolerant" & "inclusive" That is what's disappointing..."
