CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: The sixth episode of 'Presumed Innocent' on Apple TV+ focused on Rusty Sabich's (Jake Gyllenhaal) courtroom trial after being charged with the murder of Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve).

The eight-episode long series by David E. Kelley focuses on Rusty, a prosecutor who gets accused of the murder of his secret girlfriend and colleague Carolyn.

In the latest episode, it is seen that Rusty's mentor and legal defense, Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp), skillfully strategized and successfully countered the claims made by Tommy Molto (Peter Sarsgaard).

Nevertheless, an abrupt medical emergency has now placed Rusty's future in a precarious state.

Raymond, an experienced professional in his occupation, displays his extensive knowledge and skill as he defends Rusty in the latest episode.

During Herbert Kumagai's (James Hiroyuki Liao) testimony, Raymond endeavors to refute the notion that Rusty caused harm to Carolyn and raises doubts in the minds of the jurors over the prosecution's attempt to tarnish Rusty's reputation.

He emphasizes that Rusty and Carolyn served as prosecutors in a prior case in which a female victim was in a similar situation, indicating a possible link to Liam Reynolds (Mark Harelik). However, the court objects to this as an illogical jump.

Later, Raymond challenges the pathologist about the sort of skin cells discovered beneath Carolyn’s fingernails, seeking to establish that their existence doesn't imply Rusty murdered her, since it may be just because of a kiss between the two.

However, things soon become grim when while interrogating Carolyn's son Michael Caldwell (Tate Birchmore), Raymond becomes uneasy and falls, requiring a guard to give CPR while Rusty attempts to console Lorraine.

Now, we've seen Raymond being there for Rusty even when no one believed him, and he even takes up his case.

We've all watched Raymond struggle under the weight of battling for Rusty, and the early indicators of his health issue were sprinkled throughout the earlier episodes, but the idea that he'd die was a farfetched premise, which writers explored at a critical time.

Although the episode ends with a cliffhanger in which doctors attempt to wake Raymond up, but they are unable to do so, making it clear that either he will die or be bedridden.

In any situation, Rusty is left without any defense counsel, weakening his case, and he must swiftly locate a substitute attorney to step in and take over Raymond's duty.

So it's likely that Rusty, together with Mya Winslow (Gabby Beans), chooses to defend his own case. Rusty may now step up his own inquiry, hoping to unearth proof linking Carolyn's death to that of Bunny Davis.

However, Raymond's abrupt fall adds a new layer of uncertainty and raises concerns about the trial's prospective outcome.
