'Preacher' Season 4 Episode 7 trailers feature Tulip and Cassidy on revenge rampage after Jesse’s death brings offer to be God
Last week we saw Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) crash to his death. What is more, he seemed prepared for it, telling Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) Tulip O'Hare (Ruth Negga) should read his letter before commanding Cassidy to let him go, using his Genesis power.
But Heaven isn't done with him yet. In a sneak peek, released by AMC, we see him talking to someone we thought had bid goodbye in Season 2 -- 'The Amazing Ganesh' aka Fiore (Tom Brooke), the angel. Though Fiore was killed by the Saint (Graham McTavish), the preview scene shows he is alive and well, dressed in a Greek-inspired toga, standing in God's throne room.
He gives the recently-deceased Jesse a job offer. "Heaven is empty, God is gone. We want you to take his place," he says, talking plainly after Jesse fails to get what he is hinting at with his "Jesus is no Hitler" line.
We also see Tulip and Cassidy dealing with the aftermath of Jesse's death. In the episode's trailer, they dig a grave for Jesse's body and later sit at a diner taking stock of what they've been through. We see Cassidy tell Tulip that feeling bad about "every goddamn thing" was not an option.
"Screw that...the gloves are off now," he says menacingly. We also see Tulip destroy church pews and later punch someone called Danny when she looks like she is about to renege on a deal. We'll get to know what this deal is in the upcoming episode since it is obvious that both Tulip and Cassidy are itching for some payback.
We also see Jesse asking Fiore if he is dead and see brief flashbacks to when God (Mark Harelik) chose his dog suit to roam anonymously among humanity. Will we finally get to see why God decided to abandon Heaven to walk the earth and what he has planned?
Jesse also seems to manage to piss off the angel troops who simultaneously pull their swords on him before Fiore reminds them there will be plenty of time for fighting once Hell arrives, referencing the imminent Apocalypse. Other stills show new Hoover (Aleks Mikic) eavesdropping near a door before handing Jesus and Hitler their coffee. Is he snooping for Herr Starr to make sure the Apocalypse goes off without a hitch even though Jesus and Hitler are in-charge of Heaven and Hell?
In the official summary of the episode, the AMC website proclaims: "Tulip and Cassidy tear across the world, hell-bent on making God pay for the latest bloody twist in His plan, while Jesus and Hitler struggle to get the Apocalypse Revue on its feet." After all, when it is the end of the world, there should be dancing. It also mentions an "old friend" that the trailer reveals is Fiore, saying that the opportunity he presents "could change everything".
Given that Jesse has been drunk on his power all this season, will he take the bait Fiore is dangling? 'Preacher' airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. on AMC.
