'Power' Season 6 Episode 5: Tommy Egan's soft corner for Tariq and LaKeisha will also be the reason for his downfall
We have all noticed just how terrible season six of 'Power' has been for Ghost (Omari Hardwick), but things have been pretty bad for Tommy (Jacob Sikora) as well.
The man was manipulated to turn against his own father by the friend he considered his brother. Sure, he got his revenge, but instead of killing Ghost he accidentally killed the love of Ghost's life and now things are worse.
He has an army of men as opposed to Ghost's one-man army, but he is being blindsided by his own false sense of security. In the last episode, we saw how easily Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.) was able to manipulate his Godfather into believing that the pills he stole from right under his nose were from Kanan (50 Cent).
Because of his soft spot for Tariq, Tommy bought it all too quickly and he is sure to pay the price for it. Why? Because, even though Tariq may hate Ghost, he is still his blood.
We know one thing about Ghost — there is nothing and no one he is more loyal to than his own cause. In Tariq's case, it is his own business that he is loyal to.
From the promo, it is evident that not only has Tariq managed to convince Tommy that they are on the same team, he has also managed to get on the good books of Jason (Mike Dopud).
Jason has been making the lives of Ghost and Tommy living hell, and this duplicity from Tariq's end is going to affect both of them. This is not to say, Tariq's foolhardiness won't cause his own downfall, but he is either going to take Tommy with him or he will take Tommy down before he gets taken down.
Tommy has yet another obstacle as well, and that is the woman he loves — LaKeisha (La La Anthony). Despite her obvious affection for Tommy, she is no Tasha (Naturi Naughton) and is not built for this life.
Even though her assistance helped Tommy out once with Vincent, she is not going to get lucky every time, and as we see Tasha warn her in the promo for Season 6 Episode 5, she better beware.
One tiny mistake from her end would have Tommy's head rolling. Seeing as this is the final season of the series, this is very much a possibility. 'King's Gambit', which marks Season 6 Episode 5 of the series, will air on Sunday, September 22.
