Spoilers for 'Pit Bulls & Parolees' Season 16 Episode 7 - 'Everything for Emma'

One of the hardest things someone can do is give up their pet so that the pet can find a better home. It can be even harder when that pet has been someone's only companion through a difficult life. That's unfortunately the exact situation that Samantha, a homeless person from England, has been forced to do. Fortunately for her, she knows that New Orleans has one of the very best rescue centers in the world, and Mariah goes the extra mile to make sure Samantha's dog, Emma, gets the best care she can.

As Mariah explains, early in the episode, just because someone's homeless, it doesn't mean they're incapable of giving a dog the best life possible, and that she's had several friends who have been without a home but still provided the best life possible for their dogs.

Tracking Samantha and Emma down was the first task - though Samantha had gotten in touch with the Villalobos Rescue Center, she was unable to leave a home address or a fixed point at which to meet. It was up to Mariah to track her down, and she finally found Samantha and Emma at a shelter for the day, where Samantha explained the situation. Samantha needed to return to England for a liver transplant - and unfortunately, England has laws against pit bulls that make it impossible for Samantha to take Emma with her. Samantha is broken up about being forced to say goodbye, and Mariah promises to do everything in her power to make sure that Emma has a good home.

Emma proves to be easy to take care of - she's healthy, friendly around people, and is well trained. To help Emma adjust, Mariah takes her to a satellite home instead of the warehouse, not knowing how comfortable Emma is around other dogs and figuring that Emma might be more comfortable around the chaos of lots of people. Mariah's guess turns out to be accurate as Emma is completely comfortable amongst the people there - and Mariah hopes to find a home for her as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the Villalobos Rescue Center sees a pair of adopters return - Dennis and Edie. The couple had adopted a dog five years ago, who tragically passed from cancer a month ago. Now, the couple is looking to adopt a pair of dogs, and they specified that they're looking for a pair that are in the most need of adoption, as a way of giving back to the Villalobos Rescue Center. After meeting with three pairs, Edie makes the decision for her and Dennis to adopt Falcor and Leah. While Falcor is a regular, friendly goof of a dog, Leah is a more reserved one, who always needs to be near Falcor and is upset when they're separated. It's not always easy to have dogs adopted in pairs, and if it wasn't for Dennis and Edie, the pair might never have been adopted at all.

Edie and Dennis fell in love with Falcor and Leah almost immediately, and it's not long before the dogs are taken to their new home. It's a momentous occasion as their date of arrival happens to be on Dennis' birthday. The couple went all out to prepare their home for their new dogs, and Leah and Falcor feel at home immediately. As far as Dennis is concerned, it's the best birthday present he could have been given, and it's a happy ending for all.

The next episode of 'Pit Bulls & Parolees' airs at 9 pm ET on Sunday, September 12, on Animal Planet.
