In 'Perry Mason' Episode 3, the only member who visited Emily Dodson (Gayle Rankin) to console her and tell her that her son's death was not her fault was Sister Alice (Tatiana Maslany). She visited Emily under the guise of praying for her and when Emily is ridden with guilt and wonders if she really was the reason behind her son's death, Alice vehemently denies and states, "You didn’t kill your baby any more than I did — bad men did that."

Towards the end of the episode, Sister Alice puts up a stage show about sailing on a rough sea with singular belief and faith in God and how that helps her stay afloat. She does this for the members of her church and in the middle of her act, she ends up having a severe seizure. Her mother Birdy McKeegan (Lili Taylor) seems extremely worried. Then, strangely enough, her seizures seize suddenly and she opens her eyes to tell her mother that she doesn't have to worry about Charlie Dodson anymore.

She says that God spoke to her and she now has a way to bring him back from the dead. She also ends up making this strange claim in the presence of a journalist who happened to be near her when she had the seizure and from the look on her mother's face, it is clear that something is fishy here. There is something that the mother-daughter duo seem to be hiding, and it is this that the fans have noticed most and commented.

One fan wrote on Twitter, "I see “Birdy” a church leader being played by Lily Taylor, IT CONFIRMS the church shady as hell for me lol #PerryMason." Another fan shared, "Sister Alice's messianic complex is really something. #PerryMason." In reference to bringing Charlie back, a fan noted, "I'm sorry, Sister Alice, you're going to do WHAT? That would be quite interesting to see."

One of the scenes also sees Perry Mason (Matthew Rhys) investigate George Gannon's work for the church where he is seen asking Alice some questions about his work description. During this conversation, Alice tries to sell the idea of believing in God to Mason. She says, "God is with your work.” To which, Mason responds, “God left me in France, sister”. Fans have also taken note of this reference to Mason's days of serving in the war and have shared the same as their favorite online.

Fans have also appreciated Matthew Rhys's show in general and one of them also commented, "Not too many shows have earned my undivided attention, but #PerryMason has." Another fan shared, "#PerryMason I hate it when it’s over and I have to wait another week. Loving this series!"

New episodes of 'Perry Mason' drops every Sunday at 9 pm ET on HBO.
