At the start of the teaser, we see that there’s an image of a castle. Followed by that, the makers slowly start revealing the important details related to the series. The words, ‘Before Batman’ come in first followed by ‘Before Gotham’ and finally ‘Before Butler’ as well in bold font. Then they finally reveal the main character with the dialogue teaser, ‘There was Alfred.’ This gives us a hint that there’s going to be loads of action, drama, emotional backdrop and a well-etched riveting fantasy adventure series related to the introduction of Batman’s Butler on the screens which is going to be enjoyable for global fans to watch. Also in the background, there’s a suspenseful song playing which only adds more intrigue and mystery to the much-talked-about series.
Then we see the introduction of the main character Alfred on the screen. Alfred Pennyworth (Jack Bannon) is seen sitting at a place and whilst having a conversation with yet another character, he says, “I charge for my services. My honor isn’t for sale.”
There are glimpses of betrayal, deceit, love, murder, guns and so on in the next few seconds which describes how the makers have teased us all by giving us a tasteful palette of what a riveting story it's going to be yet made all of us curious enough to know more about the same. Overall, the teaser has a mix of drama, emotionally charged characters, betrayal and so on.
The makers officially dropped the teaser-trailer on the official Twitter handle of HBO Max on August 10.

As soon as this news of the upcoming season having a new name got confirmed with the teaser, many fans took to Twitter and slammed the makers for such a shoddy and bad title for the third season. Some also added that they’d be waiting for David Zaslav to even end up axing this one.
“Why did they change the title it sounds so… they literally should’ve left it as just pennyworth,” said a fan. “*David Zaslav asks to be briefed on the current DC shows*Zaslav: "Pennyworth? What's that?" Exec: "It's a show about the origins of Batman's bulter, Alfred "Zaslav: "Batman?! Put it in the title!” shared a fan. “When #TheOrville jumped from Fox to #Hulu it was renamed. Same thing now: after 2 seasons on EPIX #Pennyworth has jumped to HBO Max and got "served" with a new title: The Origin of #Batman’s Butler. That title is so bad; I wonder if...the butler did it. #SetTheVCR,” a fan noted. “Yall really need to change the title name. "Pennyworth" was just fine,” a fan added.
