'Peacemaker' Episode 8: Justice League cameo in finale labelled 'insulting' by DC fandom
It was a climax scene to remember (or forget) or DC ardents. 'Peacemaker' aired its final episode 'It's Cow or Never' and the ending garnered a mixed response from fans. Skipping right to the final few minutes, John Cena's Chris Smith torpedoes his helmet and Leota Adebayo right into the Cow's belly killing it. He also shoots Locke and detective Song but leaves the butterfly alone as a way of showing his humanity.
Outside, John Economos tends to a gravely-injured Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and Smith picks her up and carries her to the hospital. They're confronted by four members of the Justice League — Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Aquaman. Cena hands them a mouthful of abuse and walks off. While their appearances blew one segment's minds, a chunk of fans were disappointed with how it ended.
"just saw the clip from Peacemaker with the members of the Justice League... I get that Jason and Ezra were likely filming their scenes for their respective movies at the same time and I don't take issue with the cameos. Or the stupid dialogue (Gunn is terrible, whatever). But..." one of the comments read. This was seconded by another who wrote, "What the f*ck is this?! Is this what DCEU is turning into?? Thank God James Gunn is not directing a Justice League movie! It would have been Josstice League 2.0 #Peacemaker #JusticeLeague."
"The Justice League appearing in Peacemaker's finale seems like it also pokes fun at Marvel just forgetting the Avengers exist everytime a world altering event occurs in a solo film HAHAHAHAHAHAHA is this true @JamesGunn ?" one of the tweets read. "Extremely funny that it was the cheap Justice League members who spoke in the Peacemaker finale. Like, I get it, but it is funny to me especially given how popular the show ended up being," another opined.
The rants continued. "After seeing what was made with the Justice League in the Peacemaker finale all I Have to say is #BoycottWB what the hell do ppl who support this have in their minds? And they call themselves true fans," another fan remarked. "Why WB hates so much Justice League?☠️ Ok they don’t want Snyder, but wtf is this?😭 Put some respect on these iconic comic characters and stop ruining them #peacemaker."
