'Outlander' season eight will be its last and bring 'Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion'
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The dreamy and mysterious show 'Outlander' will bid goodbye with its eighth season, which will be its final one. The show has been loved by many for its romance and the impeccable chemistry between the leads. 'Outlander' first premiered on Starz in 2014. The show is about an English combat nurse in 1945 who meets her husband after World War II; the story begins when she travels back in time after accidently touching a magical stone in Scotland, which takes her to 1743. This epic series is led by Caitríona Balfe as combat nurse Claire Randall and Sam Heughan as Scottish soldier and linguist James Fraser. The series is based on books written by author Diana Gabaldon.

According to Variety, the eighth season will be the final season for 'Outlander'. The news came after the release of season 7's teaser. There is a supposed silver lining to this as 'Outlander' will have a prequel, 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood', which has been given the green light to start production, but hasn't gotten a release date yet. The prequel will take place before the origin of Outlanders, where Jamie's parents are still alive. It will showcase the lives of Jamie Fraser's parents and their whereabouts.
Starz president of original programming Kathryn Busby has promised fans that there will be an epic conclusion to the love story of Claire and Jamie. “For nearly a decade ‘Outlander’ has won the hearts of audiences worldwide and we’re pleased to bring Claire and Jamie’s epic love story to a proper conclusion. But before we close this chapter there is plenty of their passionate story to tell over the course of 26 new episodes and even more to explore of this dynamic world and its origin story. We’re thrilled to continue to partner with Matthew, Maril and Ronald and can’t wait to see where their alluring storytelling takes us next," she told Variety.
'Outlander' season 8 will have limited episodes. It is cleared for a ten-episode season, which will see a conclusion to Claire and Jamie's love story. You can stream 'Outlander' on streaming services Starz, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, among others.
