'One Day at a Time' creator Gloria Calderón Kellett says fans deserve real credit as show turns weekly

'One Day at a Time' bids farewell to Netflix as the show will now be airing solely on Pop TV network, part of CBS network.

The fate of 'One Day at a Time'  is a lot like Hollywood-TV love stories right now. The show has been taken off the platform (Netflix) it used to originally air on and instead it will be aired on another popular network Pop TV. Everybody is already so hooked to the show since it has much to do with the authenticity in the representation of its character, no wonder people seem to love this show so much!

At the Red Carpet at Eva Longoria Foundation Gala, we had a little chit-chat with Gloria Calderón Kellett, the creator of 'One Day at a Time' to know about the future of the show. In an interview with MEA World Wide (MEAWW), Gloria Kellett told us that it's the fans who deserve the real credit for making this change happen. "It happened because of the LGBTQ community, the veteran community as they all came together, they made their voices heard and they said that we need to get our voices heard in some capacity", said Gloria Kellett.  The creators and showrunners are proud that all these communities love the show and the fan response is positive. Further, Gloria Kellett goes on to thank Sony for their perseverance, as 'Pop' came in and picked their show right away!

Most of us know Pop TV from 'Schitt's Creek' of course, but there was some confusion it being a Canadian network. To which Gloria Kellett said, "No no not at all Pop TV is actually owned by CBS. They're under the CBS banner and the CBS family! So, they're just expanding the CBS family and we will be supported by that enormous company, which is wonderful."

On asked about how exactly the show is going to change now, she said it is a very exciting journey now. "The show would drop at midnight and by 6:30 am in the morning we would see people on Twitter going "Hey when is the next season coming out?"  and you're like... it took me so long to write all of that!!"

She feels rather happy about the weekly affair since the show can finally "breathe." Gloria Kellett also told us that the show could air on a weekly basis or even a few weeks apart to portray people's journeys as opposed to a couple of hours, which is really what happens. Gloria Kellett feels like this change has allowed the show to be a little more topical.

"We have commercials now, so the show is a little bit shorter. But it will be the same show that the fans have loved. We promise that nothing's going to change in that capacity", Gloria Kellett added.

Finally, she was asked if there were any new characters fans could expect since the show is undergoing a major transformation, to which Gloria teased, "You're definitely going to see our regulars and there's going to be some fun cast as well there and I can't reveal that yet!"

Looks like the fans have nothing to complain about this show's transformation, only for good.
