LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: We can't contain our excitement, as our favourite childhood book 'Great Expectations' by Charles Dickens is being adapted into a mini-series by BBC.  The channel released a teaser trailer on Wednesday, February 8, which speaks volumes of how great the series is going to be. The story is about an orphan boy given shelter by a wealthy old woman whose life went downhill after a harsh and failed relationship.

Although the teaser trailer of 'Great Expectations' was twenty seconds long, it defined the word 'decay'. Decay takes up the chair as Olivia Colman ('The Crown'), where she is seen wearing a wedding dress, sporting decayed teeth with a frizzled out veil - an apparition straight out of gothic horror. The teaser trailer is a metaphor of how Miss Havisham feels on the inside, the outer world being a reflection of her failed relationship and her not-so-hopeful life.

Most of the viewers were really happy about the production casting Olivia to play the character of Miss Havisham. "Olivia colman megaslay incoming," said a viewer. "Why does this poster go so hard," said another fan, just appreciating the great work behind the poster of the series. One fan chimed in with, "Whoever designed this poster gets a kiss on the forehead and the good lembas bread not that stuff we gave to the hobbits."

The series is written by 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight

The slate in the beginning of the teaser revealed that the series is written by 'Peaky Blinders' creator Steven Knight. His next adaptation was anticipated by fans after he wrote mini-series 'A Christmas Carol' in 2019. Knight has teamed up with remarkable producers like Tom Hardy ('Dunkirk') and Ridley Scott ('House of Gucci') to produce the series, and invited Brady Hood ('Top Boy') and Samira Radsi ('Sex/Life') to direct 'Great Expectations'.

Aside from Colman, the cast from 'Great Expectations' includes Ashley Thomas, Johnny Harris, Hayley Squires, Owen McDonnell, Laurie Ogden, Matt Berry, Trystan Gravelle, and Rudi Dharmalingam. BBC is yet to reveal the trailer and release date, but take a look at this teaser trailer till then.
