5 new movies streaming in February you really don’t want to miss: From ‘Eternity’ to ‘Urchin’
In February, there's often a gap left by the big-budget blockbusters that aren't yet available for streaming because of the awards season. On the other hand, several notable movies from the previous year are often released on streaming platforms around this time. All in all, this February is poised to be an eventful month for movie lovers, as several award-winning films are coming to streaming platforms throughout the month. In this article, we will take a look at five such movies that you absolutely can't miss.
1) 'Urchin'
Upon its premiere in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival, 'Urchin' received positive reviews and even a five-minute standing ovation from the audience. This film, which happens to be the directorial debut of 'Babygirl' star Harris Dickson, chronicles the trials and tribulations of homelessness and mental health struggles of a rough sleeper in the streets of London. 'Urchins' will be available for streaming on Hulu beginning February 17.
2) 'Kiss of the Spider Woman.'
Although Jennifer Lopez had been developing 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' as her passion project for a long time, the film underperformed at the box office upon its theatrical release, as Variety reported. The movie was similarly overlooked by awards season, yet it has the potential to become a successful musical once it becomes available on Hulu from February 27 onwards. Director Bill Condon has helmed the project, which stars Lopez alongside Diego Luna.
3) 'Eternity'
Tom's Guide describes 'Eternity' as an exquisitely shot romantic comedy that also offers a look into the afterlife. After her death, Elizabeth Olsen's character faces the difficult decision of choosing between her two former lovers, Miles Teller and Callum Turner. With a solid box-office reception that earned the A24 and Apple TV film approximately $36 million worldwide, the streaming platform debut of 'Eternity' takes place on February 13 (Apple TV) and is expected to ensure the film's continued success.
4) 'Man On The Run.'
Streaming on Amazon Prime Video from February 27 onwards, this moving documentary chronicles the life of The Beatles star Paul McCartney, taking a close look at his artistic reinvention after the band's breakup. The official Prime Video synopsis reads, "This documentary takes viewers on an intimate journey through Paul McCartney’s extraordinary life following the breakup of the Beatles and the formation of Wings with his wife Linda. From Oscar-winning director Morgan Neville, the film chronicles the arc of McCartney’s solo career as he faces down a myriad of challenges while creating new music to define a new decade.”
5) 'Splitsville'
Our final entry in this list will be available to stream on Hulu from February 6 onwards and is a remarkable tale that highlights the modern malaise of communication breakdown between romantic partners. When Ashley and Carey find themselves in a crisis after a year of marriage, the former files for divorce. This leads Carey to confide in his friends Julie and Paul, who claim to be in an open relationship themselves. Once, after Carey ends up sleeping with Julie, all hell breaks loose.
