The trailer for the second season of ‘Narcos: Mexico’ is here! The two minutes, 22 seconds-long video that dropped on January 29, indicates the new season is going to be every bit as gripping as the previous installments of this Netflix crime drama.

According to Netflix, this season will chronicle “the missteps, ill-conceived agendas, and corruption on both sides of the border that have led to a dangerous presence in the failed war on drugs. It’s the mid-1980s, as Félix Gallardo’s super cartel splinters under its own dark weight and social and political shifts within Mexico prompt its desperate government’s most brazen corruption. Meanwhile, the American effort to exact revenge for Kiki Camerana’s execution leads them further away from any hope for justice. The cycle of violence rages on.”

The trailer begins with DEA agent Walt Breslin (Scoot McNairy) and his men kidnapping a man and questioning him: “Give me a name.” In all likeliness, this question is about those behind the execution of DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) in the previous season. At the end of the first season of ‘Narcos: Mexico’, Breslin delivered a monologue that set the tone for season 2.

Breslin said, “What happened in Guadalajara in the early '80s was the beginning. The last moment before it all got f****d up. Spun out of control. It was that moment when it all fell apart. What happened in Guadalajara gave birth to the first cartel. From that, others would follow. And the violence and money and drugs, they just f*****g explode. It changed the DEA, too. Maybe it woke us up, I don't know. But it's where the first shot was fired, the one that started the drug war. And after that, none of it would be the same. How could it be? We knew we were in a war. Now, it was our turn. Pretty soon, they were gonna know, they were in one, too.”

The action-packed trailer also features Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo (Diego Luna), the leader of the Guadalajara cartel, one of the biggest in the history of Mexico, and the founder of the modern Mexican drug trade. “The Colombians are no longer in charge. It’s my turn,” says Gallardo. “A white storm is coming. The Americans can try to stop us, but they will fail.”

The trailer is full of scenes that follow the same outline as previous seasons of ‘Narcos’; drugs, sex, affluence, violence, high-octane action sequences, and a struggle for power. It sees the DEA trying to tear down the cartel by scheming to divide it. But will it be successful?

'Narcos: Mexico’ Season 2 will return to Netflix February 13.
