People are trying to do everyday tasks blindfolded, inspired by Netflix's 'Bird Box', causing safety concerns
Netflix recently released its movie 'Bird Box,' and the popularity of the Sandra Bullock starrer has triggered a challenge on social media that the streaming giant had to intervene and issue an advisory.
The network's Twitter handle issued a warning on Wednesday about fans wanting to take on the '#BirdBoxChallenge' where people are supposed to go about their daily life while wearing blindfolds.
The challenge is inspired from a plot in the movie wherein Sandra Bullock and the cast are forced to wear blindfolds in order to avoid mysterious entities which possess people and then make them kill themselves.
It didn't take long for people to take that as an "inspiration" and try to do everday thing while being blindfolded.
However, Netflix does not believe that this is a good idea at all and is discouraging all fans from attempting any such a challenge.
Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.
