Netflix’s ‘Fast and Furious: Spy Racers’ trailer sees Tony Toretto voiced by Tyler Posey go undercover to tackle crime organization
The trailer of the Netflix show 'Fast and Furious: Spy Racers', an animated spin-off of the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, was released on Thursday. It features Tyler Posey voice the role of Tony Toretto, who happens to be Don Toretto's cousin and Similce Diesel voices the character of Cissy in the production that sees Vin Diesel, who played Don in the films, serve as the executive producer.
The trailer portrays Tony as someone who aspires to be just like his cousin and dreams of being a better street racer than Don. He says, "I am about to break the record that Don set on this very stretch of road and become the next best street racer."
The trailer also calls back to Don's favorite line in the film, "Go big or go home," as we see Tony and his friends get ready to infiltrate an elite racing club called SH1FT3R after getting hired by a government agency. Which agency is unclear, but what is clear is the fact that the animated series will keep in line with the franchise's theme of packing excellent action scenes, car races, and chases among other things.
The technology that these racers seem to have developed takes this show a step further and we are excited to see if the plot will keep up tension and intrigue over multiple episodes. The official synopsis reads, "In this new animated series, teenager Tony Toretto follows in the footsteps of his cousin Dom when he and his friends are recruited by a government agency to infiltrate an elite racing league serving as a front for a nefarious crime organization bent on world domination."
Considering this is an animated series, of which the first season is slotted to release soon, the plot has to be interesting to keep the audiences hooked. By introducing a crime organization that has a car club as a front, the animated series has served the perfect platform for Tony to show off his skills behind the wheels, but what would be his part in taking down the crime organization?
The trailer clearly indicates that Tony is not backed by money, but pure passion. For instance, one of the scenes sees a car fall off a cliff during a race, and the driver ejects himself and floats away to safety with the help of a parachute. Tony, who is shocked by the idea, asks "Hey team, did we pack a parachute in here?" To this, Frostee responds, "No, but I put in a spare set of underwear."
For Tony and his friends, this undercover operation they became a part of after getting hired by Ms. Knowhere and Gary, is just something cool to be a part of and all they seek, at least in the trailer, is to get some fun out of it. There is the risk of the show being too subtle for audiences who are used to stunning sequences in the film, but let's wait and watch before we can call this a "Spy Kids with kicka** cars show!"
The show is set to be released on Netflix December 26.
