'American Barbecue Showdown': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Netflix's mouthwatering show
Netflix is rolling out shows like no one's business. The latest to drop is 'American Barbecue Showdown', in which the country's best smokers and barbecue-ers will fight for the title of the champion.
Release date
Season 1 premieres on September 18 on Netflix.
Plot
It's an eight-part series that will see judges task contestants with unique challenges in each episode. Traditional methods to unique meat textures, participants will be tested on every account, and only then will they be announced worthy of the title.
Cast
According to Deadline, Kevin Bludso, founder of Bludso’s BBQ, and Melissa Cookston, seven-time world barbecue champion and owner of Memphis BBQ Company, will judge the contestants.
Trailer
The trailer captures the spirit of the show all too well but it also has left fans, who are not into meat, a bit weirded out. Some have even pointed out how the food they're putting together on the show is unhealthy and oily.

The show is produced by Maverick TV USA and All3Media America. Serving as executive producers are John Hesling, Simon Knight, Tim Pastore and Daniel Calin.
Maverick TV president John Hesling, in his statement, promised that it will be a delicious affair and a treat for viewers as they can enjoy "eight hopeful pitmasters as they stoke their flames against each other, and the clock, to be crowned American Barbecue Champion". He added that it will not just be about food and flavor but the dishes will come with a touch of humor as well. "Distinct flavors, techniques, creativity, and humor are all on display as our barbecue competitors are put to the test in the hottest battle they’ve ever faced in American Barbecue Showdown," John further elaborated.
