John David Washington is undoubtedly one of the most talented young actors in Hollywood right now and when your father is Denzel Washington, then there is no point in guessing that acting comes naturally to him.

Recent movies like ‘BlacKkKlansman’, ‘Tenet’ and ‘Malcolm & Marie’ are a testament to Washington’s acting prowess and he gets better with every project that comes his way. He is now ready to blow everyone’s mind in the new Netflix movie titled ‘Beckett’. The movie revolves around an American tourist named Beckett, who goes for a vacation in Greece and gets into a tragic car accident. However, things go upside down when he becomes the target of a manhunt following the unfortunate accident.

Release date and how to watch

The upcoming movie, titled ‘Beckett’, will be premiering exclusively on the streaming platform on Friday, August 13, at 3 am EST. Viewers can subscribe to Netflix directly, via a mobile app store (App Store, Google Play). You can also watch it by signing up for the platform’s free trial. Apart from that, viewers can also opt for different subscription plans provided by the streaming giant. A premium plan that allows more people to watch the service on different screens simultaneously, costs $18 per month. Meanwhile, the basic US plan costs $9 per month.

“While vacationing in Greece, American tourist Beckett (John David Washington) becomes the target of a manhunt after a devastating accident. Forced to run for his life and desperate to get across the country to the American embassy to clear his name, tensions escalate as the authorities close in, political unrest mounts, and Beckett falls even deeper into a dangerous web of conspiracy.”

Cast

John David Washington will be seen playing the titular character while Alicia Vikander will be portraying the role of April, Beckett’s girlfriend. Washington and Vikander are two of the finest actors in the industry and have made a name for themselves with impeccable performances.

Vikander achieved global recognition after 2014’s ‘Ex Machina’ and won her maiden Oscar in 2016 for her acting in ‘The Danish Girl’. She also received Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role, and the Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actress for ‘The Danish Girl’.

Meanwhile, Washington has also received nominations for his work in Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’. He received both Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

Other actors to appear in the movie are Vicky Krieps (Lena), Boyd Holbrook (Tynan), and Daphne Alexander (Thalia Symons).

Creators

The film is being helmed by Italian filmmaker Ferdinando Cito Filomarino, who is known for making several short movies. Meanwhile, the screenplay is written by Kevin A. Rice.

On the other hand, Luca Guadagnino, Marco Morabito, Francesco Melzi d’Eril and Gabriel Moratti are producing the project.
